  • My hangar and work area...

So, my planes were overrunning my den, and the wife was getting tired of me dripping glue on the kitchen table. And I have a 1600mm P-38 on the way... What to do, what to do? First thing I did was buy her a new kitchen table. It was 25 years old to begin with, so we were due for a replacement.

I moved the table to the garage, and kept two chairs. I had a portable air conditioner for the garage to begin with, so I put the table next to it. Hung a cabinet for my R/C tools and parts, and installed an LED light under it. Had an old TV, so a welded up a bracket, and hung the TV. Fine, work area done, now what do I do with all these planes???

I went to Lowe's, and bought a bunch of ¾" PVC pipe, insulation and glue. I have a buddy that is an electrician, so he gave me some cool conduit clamps, and hollow wall anchors. I made simple U-shaped brackets out of the PVC pipe, slipped the insulation over them to protect the planes finish, and screwed them to the wall. So far, it's working pretty well. Only problem was I ran out of wall space, after I built the Lightning. It had to go on another wall...

I hate that motorcycle they make me ride. I'm here to tell you, there ain't nothing in the world I hate more than that elephant under my ass.

Looks great except now the car has to stay outside? There are priorities though! My lovely bride let's me hang 9 planes out of my hanger on the entryway hall wall, such a nice girl! The rest are in my cave upstairs, although it is getting crowded.
    Addicted to planes!

I like the way you hang your aircraft on the wall. Might look into that!

Thanks Guys, it's working out so far. No worries on the cars, it's a 3 ½ car garage, so both cars and the bike still fit. There's even room for my beer fridge, too...

Taking advantage of what space I do have. Can't convince the spouse to let me have the entire garage. :D

Great use of the space you have. I'm pretty well spread out through the entire basement for now.....
