Can someone help with the operation of the supposed sliding canopy on this P51

  • #2
:D Well...that sliding canopy. You will find (specially the first time) you have to put a scarry amount of presure inward with a thumb on one side of the canopy, while at the same time with a finger on the otherside, both close to the front of the canopy where it seperates. And then of course, presure towards the rear to get the sliding motion. Yes, you will think it doesn't work, or something is going to break that first time.

Lon is right, the canopy is tight! Better than loose, I suppose, but it's still finicky those first few times. The key for those first few times is to grip the base of the canopy firmly, pinch inward, and pull straight back. Look inside the canopy and you'll see the pin/mechanism that snaps the canopy shut. That's what you're trying to disengage.

At the very least, rest assured that the canopy won't ever accidentally pop open during flight :p

The first thing I looked at when the new fuselage came, and look!! The canopy is not locked!!
In the late My Little Gal, I gave up, but in the new My Little Gal 2, tha's not going to be a problem by the looks of it.
