Had a very successful maiden flight today. I tried the auto land and it worked perfect. I then made two successful landings on my own and one nose over landing. I'm happy to report no damage on the first day, can't wait to be back at it tomorrow. Great plane for someone who wants to start out. I got 10min flights out of the 3S 11.1V 1300mAh battery which is pretty awesome.

Hey Big Don, welcome to Hobbysquawk! Its a good plane from what I've heard, the only thing in the 'not so great' category ,again from what I've heard, is that the wheels are too small for grass strips, someone want to clarify that?
There are a lot of gadgets on it that I think, personally are things you may use once or twice and then forget about them. I do like the auto land feature if you have a big field rather than just a runway. I seriously considered one for the wife, but in the end I went the E Flite Apprentice instead. Don't get me wrong, a personal choice and she loves it. Both planes are great!!

Your are absolutely correct Grossman56. This is a great starter plane and I too myself was debating on the E-Flite Apprentice. The only reason I ended up with the Hobbyzone Sportsman S+ was because I won the auction on Ebay. Sorry fellows at Motion RC, but I do plan on getting more batteries from you guys. The only thing I can say is you can make modifications to accept larger wheels and remove the wheel pants.Originally posted by Grossman56 View PostHey Big Don, welcome to Hobbysquawk! My next plane will be the Freewing Pandora where I would like to learn to fly in a low wing configuration. Once I have mastered that, I will move on to my favourite warbird the P-51 Mustang.

Hi Julinick
Great news to hear indeed!! That sportsman S+ is way a head of its time I wished I had one back in 1991 sure would have been easier to do. Other than pilling a super star 40 into a 30 foot tree. I hope you and all the best in getting into this hobby good luck and many many great days of flying. "Remember crashing is the art work of how to fly correctly"
