  • Need reference for warbird pilots.

I am slowly going to start producing some pilots for the planes we fly..currently theres just not much available, other than the cheesy static looking figures. I mean, dont you want more to choose from like you do your planes? Already have all the molding and casting equipment, since I used to produce resin figures a few years ago..so, Im looking for period photos of pilots in their seat to help give my sculptor ideas and reference...
1st up will be a Vietnam era pilot intended for the Skyraider, 1/9-10 scale..
2nd will be of course, the US WWII pilot in same scale. after those,we'll see how we do with them and go from there.

and before you say it..yes I Googled....but perhaps some of you here may have better and/or interesting close-ups to share..

There's also a need for a WW II Pacific theater Navy Pilots in the same scale, there's just nothing out there. Just a thought.

Sounds like a great project, can you get a copy of "The Might Eighth" by Roger Freeman? That book is packed with picture like that. I'll take a look through my collection and wee what I can scan

There is a need for a 8 inch pilot. 10-12 inch is to big for a 60 size by far. Then you have warbird with the 70-80 inch wingspan, or a 30cc. 10 inch is iffy, but an 8 inch would work just great. For 60 size you need a 6 inch pilot figure. You might get an 8 inch in a 60 size but I think a 6 inch would work great. I am talking about full body pilots. I dont know if you was referring to just busts or what. Korean era jet pilot, Vietnam era jet pilot seems hard to find.

I'll be doing busts, not going to do full size figures.
