Who do you share your hobby with?

Hey guys, I've said it before, but I just have to say it one more time.
My best friend, who I'm married to, came on this road trip to watch me fly for four days here at Shawano, then is going with me to Muncie to live my guy/dream of meeting up with some of the boys and going to NEFI to fly. she brought her Apprentice along to fly as well, but geez, what a gal!!

I hear you Dewey, a cousin of mine did the same thing, had to chose between alcohol and a wonderful lady. Chose booze, lost her, but it was his rock bottom, stopped drinking still doesn't, but didn't get her back.
Sometimes its the price you pay.
Anyway, I realize just how extremely lucky I am. We've been together for 11 years and have yet to have our first argument.. she's my best friend.

Gman, that's great that you have your wife/best friend to share your hobby/passion with.

I'm working on my kids to get into it [I don't think there's any hope my wife ever will :)]. I recently bought a DX5e and trainer cord and we used it for the first time a few days ago. Went out to the field and flew the Champ with each of my four kids on the buddy box. I think they had fun, but the plane was pretty high and thus hard to see, and the Champ is pretty much a no frills type of plane, so it probably wasn't as exciting as they were hoping it'd be. Later in the day I did a short demo for my brother and my son (11 yo) came running over saying "can i fly it??"...so that made me feel good. He hooked up and was doing loops and having fun with it.

My 7 year old daughter actually had the Champ flying inverted briefly. I wasn't too concerned because it was still pretty high...I just couldn't believe it was capable!

Kids catch on quick, if it becomes a passion for them, look out, they'll be flying rings around you. There was a couple of boys, about 12 or so, at Nefi and WOW they were good!

Ahh to be young again and have all these toys!!!!

I fly with the Royal City Radio Control Club (Santa Fe). Great bunch of guys, mostly over 70. We have as much fun shootn' tha bull as flying. We had a brief mention in last months AMA mag. Doc

I had a great day of flying so far light wind temp in upper 70s. Flying with 2 of my sons we dusted of 5 of our older planes and flew the newer eflite p47 3 or 4 batteries each. We're charging batteries now and may go out with some of our other planes later.

My new buddy, Brian and I got together to fly this morning. Between the two of us, we smacked up 5 planes!!!!
I nose planted the Spitfire, peeled the landing gear of Old Crow and Pandora One did the same thing it did a few weeks ago. No up elevator!! All are repairable, thank God. Still can't figure P-1 though. had 7 flights on her and on the eight, down the runway she hops, I'm giving her up elevator and nothing. Needless to say, I'm yanking the servo out of her as thats the only thing I can figure it is. The spitfire broke her nose off, but a clean break so she's in traction right now as the glue dries, she should be okay. Another one that was flying fine, what can you do!! Old Crow however....she decided that she wasn't going to lift off. So, she getting her gear glued back on again and we'll try again, the dang thing is going to fly!!!!

Our Santa Fe club had our "float fly" last weekend. There were guys there from Colorado, Tx, and southern NM. I did the cooking. Great time. Doc

My daughter is in college and has been hanging out with me at the RC field for quite a while. She has been taking buddy-box flying lessons for 4 or 5 weeks (in the photo, she's buddy boxing with our RC Club President), and I just bought her a Hobby Zone Super Cub S of her own.
