Go check out the fms page. They have finally started smoking the HH crack. YEEESH. I suspect this might be one of the reasons Motion decided to form their own brand line. 1400 models now 399 bucks!!!!!

Motion posted about this a little while ago. They said they were going to try to hold the line as long as they could but Horizon is the sole dictator of FMS pricing now, just as they have always been for everything else they sell. Ever notice why Eflite and Parkzone and Hobbyzone and Multiplex (and the list goes on) have always been more expensive than anything that HH didn't sell? It wasn't so much that the quality was proportionally better (even those HH did dictate certain quality standards), it was simply that they needed to maintain higher pricing to make for a better profit margin, especially in light of the fact that they were and still are the distributors to almost all hobby shops in N. America for those products. Just wait till they get their greedy mitts on Freewing, Dynam, Taft, LX, Fly Fly and all those others that we've grown accustomed to buying online overseas and from some of the smaller hobby shops. I'm surprised HH hasn't done a deal with Gaui or Hirobo or Thunder Tiger by now for the RC helicopter market. Look out HobbyKing! If you keep being a thorn in HH's side, you're next. It's like a game of Monopoly and HH is just 1/2 way around the board.

I hear ya Doc, Motion RC is by far the BEST I have dealt with. I have been away from the balsa/nitro RC Plane Hobby for 20 years (went to micro helicopters) I always bought at local shops and TH exclusively. Now that I am returning to the electric RC planes again, Electric Foam has won my wallet. I started in November 2015 and ordered the Dynam F4U, I built it during the winter its GREAT! 20 flights and counting fun to build. i was so nervous buying a war bird and hadn't flown in 20 yrs lol. Then i got my son a grad gift, he loved my Corsair, he wanted a Dynam Pitts Peaks/Extreme, he crashed it already but, has 3 flights on it so far, foam is easy to repair, I love it. Just got a Dynam SU-26 Friday lol because I liked his Pitts power 650KV. This was an easy to assemble plane and every piece of the SU-26 is straight and true no warping of parts or wing i couldn't believe how good this thing looked (the Pitts had some warping issues and was difficult to assemble because of the small nuts). Motion has always been great to me as if they are a local shop, sometimes they get frustrated with me because I expect to get what I pay for, in quality and service. These guys are the best. if i have any issues they solve it quick and ship it to me asap, I mean anything! You cant get that at a local shop. Ive had burnt out motor, wrong prop shaft, broken landing gear, wrong decals, shipped the wrong stuff to me, not what i ordered, sent me a label to return and refunded my money! i mean come on really! If you're not buying or dealing with Motion RC, YOU are wasting your time and money.

So why isn't the "new pricing" reflected on the Horizon site? They actually have a $10 off on the P-40. I don't have a dog in this fight but till the "giant FMS price increase" becomes a reality I wouldn't worry about it. Bottom line not much we can do about it. For years I've watched everyone get all excited about increases along with scale fidelity and they swear their done with a brand and there are still around.
The P-40B Tomahawk Flying Tigers PNP, 1400mm by FMS is a quality built remote controlled airplane. See all our RC product options online at Horizon Hobby!

Actually, we can do something about it. As much as we buy with our hearts in this hobby, we can use some restraint and buy with our brains. If we don't like a price, we buy something else or not buy at all. Insofar as "being done with a brand", for every 100 people who "swears", 50 will back down eventually (when the heat dies down) and buy anyway AND there will be 200 new people coming into the hobby to take up the slack. New people don't have the history or experience to know or care what prices used to be. I've heard many times in big business, "Spend big dollars attracting a new customer and spend virtually nothing to keep an existing one". It must work because business continues with this marketing plan. It might be a huge price increase to us but to someone new, it's just the way it is.

I like the " We buy with our hearts" it's so true and price never seems to be a factor when we really want something. Sure we can just not buy but we keep coming back to the well.
I've seen it over and over from the hobbyist end along with the retail end.
Just have to wait it out and see what happens.

As long as this pricing stays only on the FMS site and not on Motion, I'll be happy. Some airplanes like the P-40 are more detailed and powerful than their predecessors, which merits its slightly higher price. But planes like the 1400 Corsair have no shock struts, tail retract, and lesser power. It doesn't make sense to increase price if there is no corresponding improvements..

Don't mistake the "FMS" site with the "Horizon Hobby" site and the "MotionRC" site. They are sort of related and sort of not. HH inked a deal with FMS. HH may even have some or complete ownership rights of FMS. Those details will never be known to us mere mortals. MRC is a vendor for HH products and must sell at whatever prices HH dictates. Any differences at this present time is likely based upon an allowance for vendors to clear existing stock. I'm almost certain that as soon as old stock is cleared out, the pricing will be as what HH say it will be. Take a look at Eflite products. You do not see a huge discrepancy in pricing between HH website and other vendor pricing. Some allowances are made for specific "sales" that a seller may wish to put on. If a vendor undercuts HH pricing, they will very quickly find their supply terminated.Originally posted by F106DeltaDart View PostAs long as this pricing stays only on the FMS site and not on Motion, I'll be happy. Well, sometimes the price gets too high and suddenly the price comes down, on sale, so they say, like the FMS Pitts, which was down to $309, but is now back up, even though Motion said that they were moving off the shelves quickly. It's almost like the stock market, if they sit again for a while, the price will come down again. Another prime example is the FW P 51, Old Crow, its dropped $70 since its release, but now, since Iron Ass has been discontinued, I wouldn't be surprised to see the price go up again. Its all a part of business.
The only thing I can say is that I have confidence that the best bang for our buck is through Motion R/C. I trust these guys as they've been more than fair with me in all my transactions.
Sure, I'm a moderator, but I don't work for them nor do I receive any 'breaks' or perks from them, so I can say this as a long term customer.
