Just finished my plane and thought I would share something. It came with with what I would call crap for flying wires, black, rubbery like line. First time I tied a double not it just came untied like it was alive. So I went to a really good tackle store and got (TOOTH PROOF) #12 stainless steel leader wire. I only used a spring on one end the other I made a z bend and then bent the z bend away from the foam. It looks great, like flying wires.

I need help trying to find where the C.G. is on my Waco. The manual says 85mm/3.4in. forward from the leading edge of the top wing with batt. pack installed. Then is says mark this location on bottom wing, that puts the location no where near the bottom wing. Can anyone help? -
mark on the bottom of the upper wing.

I looked the instructions up online. The picture shows the location from above the plane. Check the cg at 85mm back from the leading edge of the top wing. This should be done with the plane in the upright position. This will be checked by placing your finger tips on the bottom of the top wing or you can use a balancer if you have one that can reach between the wings. You can mark that spot for an easy way to check cg in the future.Comment

If something doesn't seem to make sense in the instructions, you are most likely right. "CG foreward of the leading edge" seems to be a common mistake, amongst many others. DocComment

Well, mine is stock except for a couple of coats of Minwax and some touchup paint. When I install the battery, I was trying to get it all the way forward, but she seemed very nose heavy. She liked to plop over on her back like a dead fly. So I would suspect that if you go a little less than full forward with the battery, you'll find the seet spot. btw, I did manage to get an A3L into her which helped a bit.

Good idea Spray pilot, welcome to the Forum. Several of us have that plane, but that's the first I've heard of using that particular wire.
