    I have 20+ flights now on my sport cub s2 and I'd like to make the plane perform rolls a bit faster. Could I do this by adjusting the linkage on the control horns of the ailerons?

    I checked the manual and it shows how to achieve more control throw by adjusting control horns and servo arms. But it also says in the manual that if you do this, you need to adjust the gain values of the receiver. I have no clue what that means and I didn't see that anywhere in the AR636 manual I saw online.

    You can increase throws by putting the rod at the servo to a hole that is closer to the end of the arm or by putting the rod at the control horn to a hole that is closer to the control surface OR both.
    On a stabilized RX like the AR636 (or any stand alone stabilizer), gain is the amount of sensitivity of the stabilizing circuitry for that control surface servo. Usually, when speed of the plane goes up or in this case, when you've made the control throws travel more, the stabilizer causes the servo (control surface) to twitch, requiring a reduction in gain. Depending on the actual model of AR636 you have, gain adjustments are done in various ways. Some require a smart phone APP. Some require a connection to a PC. Some can be done by looking at light blinks on the RX while you push a button.

        xviper pretty much said it all. It is always best to to put the control rod, at least, in the middle hole of the servo arm. This gives the servo more power and less strain. Then adjust the control horn and transmitter settings to your liking. Doc
