  • USPS is directionally challenged.... lol

On Monday I ordered some epoxy, mixing sticks and cups from Motion because I have to do some repairs on my PZ Corsair that I crashed the other night.
I paid for the priority shipping because I know I'll always have it in my mailbox in 2 days that way since I'm in NW Ohio plus I wanted to have it fixed for our Thurs night club night...
I always do the text tracking whenever I place an order, and it goes from Chicago to Allen Park MI like normal before coming to my local Defiance Ohio post office. Well this time instead of going from MI to here, it went to Kansas City KS yesterday, then departed there and who the heck knows where it is now...
The USPS is a joke.... Why it was sent to Kansas is beyond me. Hopefully I get it soon..

That's only one of the reasons that USPS is going broke and closing offices all over the country. I recently had my MRC order sent back from my local post office because the address had a mistake. It made it to my small town in Texas with a population of 300 people with it and got sent back to MRC. This was not MRC's fault.

That's crazy. This is in to way MRC's fault either, just the idiots in Allen Park Michigan mailing hub that sent it to Kansas..

I live in Iowa, Motion is in Illinois, we are close to each other.

one of my last orders went from Illinois to Des Moines (the city I live in) then to Pennsylvania then back to Des Moines then my house.

sometimes the USPS does some stupid things.

We shipped a radio to a customer in Ohio and it went to San Juan Puerto Rico first then to Ohio. We could have driven it to his house in about 5 hours from the warehouse. Took 2 weeks for him to get it.

Well it made it to my house this afternoon safe and sound, but with a little jet lag I think... lol
I guess KS is better that San Juan.... That's crazy.
My mail lady just shook her head and said she is so glad she's close to retirement so she can get out of the USPS and the stupid things they do.. lol
Now it's time to do some Corsair repairs.... :)

I understand why Motion uses them to help keep shipping cost down. Especially on small packages. But I'm starting to think after my own experiences I'm may start paying for ups shipping on everything I order even if the order qualified for free shipping.

This is the first time I've had a problem with the Priority Mail selection. I know when I used the regular $5 shipping it would go to TN, KY, and be a week before I got it so I started the Priority and have always had stuff in 2 days. I'm thinking UPS might be a better choice down the road too....

                      For the love of Pete...........

I had two boxes ship from MRC earlier this week, on is in Des Moines and out for delivery.

The other WAS in Des Moines but is now in GREENSBORO, NC. ARGH! It was a few miles from my house now it's in another state.

                      I really hate the USPS!

I had that happen to me once too! The package came from Massachusetts, made it all the way to Annapolis MD then disappeared for several days only to show up again some place in central Virginia. It spent a day there and then came back to Annapolis for a successful delivery. Really weird....

Shipping cross border, I'm glad that MRC uses USPS whenever they can. UPS and FedEx are the WORST for additional fees and even they can have odd shipping routing. I recently purchased an Iphone from Apple Canada. It came directly from the factory in the middle of China by UPS. Since it was a purchase from Apple Canada, the cost of brokerage and other fees were factored into the purchase price. However, I have a feeling that these phones could be marginally cheaper if not for having to deal with UPS. My phone went from China to Korea (where it was delayed by some kind of mechanical issue at the plant), to Anchorage, AK, then flew over my house to Kentucky, then to South Dakota before coming to Calgary. (Amazon would have dropped it by drone as it passed over my house. :p )
In fact, if MRC didn't use USPS when they can, I think it would be off my list of sellers to buy from as it would be for many Canadians. It's a matter of economics.

At the risk of veering a little off topic, before this whole business with the FAA rulings on UAVs, several of my flying buddies were "snowbirds" and they traveled across the border on the way to Arizona and back with several planes. No problem crossing the border. I also took planes and quads over on my car club drives so I could do aerial videos of the group drives. However, the last year or so, many deemed it too risky as the FAA required non-residents to register all their RC aircraft. I stopped doing it.
But a bit of news ................... it would seem that only a few days ago, it was announced (on another forum) that the FAA has rescinded their recently penned rules governing UAV's. No longer are they taking applications for registration numbers for each pilot. They have left it to the AMA to regulate club flyers as they considered that AMA rules were, in fact, more concise and even more regulatory than what the FAA came up with. So long as a pilot belonged to an AMA field, they were good to go. "Privateers" were left up to municipal by-laws and regulations or their regional governance. The only rules that remained was a size limitation of 70 lbs. and that no UAV activity shall interfere with manned aircraft and something about being inside a 5 miles radius of an aerodrome (airport). I am hoping that not long from now, Transport Canada will follow suit. I flew with a Transport Canada employee and he admitted that all those new regulations were a big can of worms that only a scarce few, "authority seeking" TC employees sought. The bulk of TC employees hated the whole idea and would become a nightmare to enforce and most of them considered that area to be of the lowest priority.

                                    xviper2,

That information is NOT correct and FAA registration is still required by hobbyists (although the AMA continues to work with the FAA on getting this eliminated for it's members). Perhaps there's confusion with the fact that the FAA recently released new rules relating to the COMMERCIAL/CIVIL use of drones. Hobbyists ARE exempt from THOSE new rules.

Here's a link to the correct information from the AMA:

The Academy of Model Aeronautics is a nonprofit community of enthusiasts who come together to celebrate model aviation.

Bill (and now back to the correct topic of this thread :D)

Hmmm, I guess I continue to keep my RC stuff at home (in Canada). We don't have registration requirements here.

Yep, here in the 'land of the free' we get slapped with more Gov't regulations, where in a semi socialist country like Canada....
Having lived in both countries, I hated when the government would decide what was best for us without consulting us and now its starting down here as well.
I laughed when I heard about the Democrats having Super Delegates, who were more aware of things so therefore had a better grasp on which way to take the party. We know better than you minions out there so we'll decide what's best. Just like Canada!
