  • Just ordered the FMS Marie in 1450mm

Well, I pulled the trigger on it this morning. I was between the FMS 1450mm V7 Marie P-51D and the FMS 1400mm P-40. I really like the P40, but there are very few videos of this one, versus the P-51 models, plus the P-51 has the shock absorbing struts which should work well on our grass field. If this one flies as well as the videos show, then I will likely order the P-40 later on this year!

If anyone has had these two models, and can compare, please let me know which is your favorite and if you had any CG issues or build problems.

    Thanks!

Ahoy there, You made the right choice Marie is awesome. Its easy to see and the colour makes the plane seem bigger than the others. I have several colours in the p-51 line up but Marie is the one that stands out.

I LOVE P-40's I have 4 fms P-40's but its not the best of the fms line. The retracts wont work very well on the grass due to no forward rake. CG has to be spot on' really no forgiveness there. I replaced all my 40's with the 580 motors. Carve out the foam in the nose for cooling its a must if your in a hot climate. After about 15-20 hours of flight time the wings will flex really bad and cause the plane to wobble and will frighten any pilot. So at some point add carbon fiber to the wings for support. Its a good idea to glue the wings right out of the box.

I know it sounds like Im negative on this plane but I will tell you I LOVE how this plane flys. I have a FMS P40 at all my flying sites and fly them often. It is well worth the effort. This is why I love this plane. Here is a old video we made back in the early days. I still fly this plane and stopped logging hours after 38 hours.
