    I understand the effects of density altitude on the performance of combustion engines. I have an extensive background in drag racing. I'm wondering if it effects electric planes as in lift and the abilities of the motor and prop combination. For example I fly at 2500 ft above sea level but the d/a is regularly around 7000+ will this cause an effective loss of lift and power.

    Yes. You will notice the effects of density altitude. Especially if you fly any EDF's. They will take even longer to get airborne, and you have to bring them in a little faster on the landing approach.

      +1 on what Prowler said. Even prop planes will have a higher stall speed and seem to have less power. My Avios Sea Fury could barely stay in the air with the stock power setup at 5000 -6000 ft density altitude, but yet many people over on RCG said that stock power was fine at sea level. However, most planes will be fine in terms of power, the main difference will be a slightly faster landing speed.

        This all sounds reasonable I have just noticed that our planes seem a little slower than others say theirs are. Especially the fms p51 v7. On stock set up it will barely stay in the air. It drags it but around really bad. You can barely maintain altitude with anything less than full throttle even with zip tie mod. Most of our other planes do well with a minor prop upgrade.
