PVC stand for my FLRC P-38

Tonight I built a stand for my FlightlineRC P-38. I saw a couple of designs on Facebook and took what I liked in them and came up with this one.

It took about two hours and I had a lot of fun doing this. With the gear extended the bottom of the wheel is 6" off the table. I built this tall so I can slide my MIG-21 under it when in storage.

This was my first time working with PVC pipe, I used 3/4" all round. I got inspired while watching a video that Wisconsin John posted on YouTube, he had some ideas and advice on building stands.

I can't wait to build more for my other planes.

My intention was to have a one piece, but i glued the bottom tee in wrong direction, so it became a two piece, the lower padded long sections are perfect for the wings when removed. Ill probably make a one piece and will be more like DK's. thanks for the pics

I haven't glued mine together yet. I'm going to break it down this weekend and take measurements on all the parts so if anyone wants them they'll be available.

Here's the stand i made for the 38. I decided to keep it as simple as possible, small as possible, and can also be used with my other planes. It works good too, with the plane on it inverted.

I love it! Small and compact. Works specially great when loading planes into the back of the car.

No beer, I'm not a drinker. I keep it stocked with water and tasty things to put in the grill when we are at the airport. :)

Great looking stand Lon, I love the simplicity. I'm going to make a few of those up for my other planes. I like your design better than the X shaped ones for my planes that have the wings attached.

I'm assuming your talking about grilling where you fly rc that would make for a great day of flying.

We do have a grill and fridge at the model field but that's not what I am talking about. I own a 182, been flying for 33 years now. I keep my RC planes in my hangar with the real plane.

Loved all the input on the stands. They are all great designs. I'm probably going to go with dkalwishky's design primarily because you can operate the flaps while the plane is in the upright position. I'm currently making do with a robart stand but if I want to cycle the flaps for testing or to change values for takeoff and landing, I have to have the plane inverted in the stand. So thanks in advance for getting the measurements together and sharing that this weekend. Brad

You do not have to have the plane inverted in the stand to test/change cycle of flaps. :D
Just make sure of the position you have it setting is clear for the flaps.

The stand was made to hold the plane with gear retracted and I wanted to keep it as low as possible. The base was built long for stability and to hold my wings that I bring to the field regularly. I put foam on the base to also provide friction to keep the stand from sliding around in the truck.

For all the events I've been at have yet to see that TopFlite D17 Staggerwing in person. I would almost kill for a 1/8 scale (50" ws) size.

Top Flite Staggerwing has a 72.5 inch wingspan. After sitting in my basement for 5 years I finally got it together this past spring. It has an OS 300 in it.
