  • Plane Shopping

When I'm looking to buy a new plane I usually look for the following...
    1. Warbird (of course)
    2. Good scale detail
    3. 1200mm or larger
    4. Good electronics
    5. Spare parts availability
    6. Reputable vendor (no fuss warranty)
    7. Quality
    8. Correct paint color
    9. Price
    10. Free shipping
What do you look for when shopping for a new plane and what are the issues/dislikes (other than money) that keep you from buying a plane?

TI.....Your picks are basically the same as mine except I reduced the option base by about half.
    1..... of course a Warbird
    2......1/8 scale (1400 to 2000mm range)
    3......spare parts
4......value add supplier(free shipping and warranty falls in here)
    5......price
    6......quality
Color and electronics don't worry me very much because I can paint and I can mod the power system and controls if need be and is relative to price.

Both great lists! Mine is very similar, with a few things added.
      1. Scale Outline and Gear (no silly coil struts!)
      2. Must have reliable retracts if the full sized airplane does, gear doors preferable as well.
      3. Good flight reviews
      4. Price
      5. Spare parts
      6. Mod options (other company makes suitable scale-sized prop/motor or landing gear/tail retract that can be adapted)
      7. Good quality paint scheme

Even though this is for airplanes, I'll add in my separate short one for Helicopters as well.
      1. Scale Fuselages available
      2. Torque tube drive
      3. Suitable number of blades on MR/TR
      4. 600 size or smaller
