What's in your toolkit? local/ home field kit

Greetings! Lots of new folks and seems like new turbulence last couple days, must be the weather, :cool: Would like to get back on to HobbySquack type ground (or airspace, as a better term) with an interesting topics for some of the newer flyers... What's in your tool kit? I'm not talking your 6 week adventure bags, boxes, duffels or busses full of gear although we can chat about that, or the weekend trip box on another thread perhaps later. But for new folks, who just want to go to the field for the day, what do you recommend bringing with you? I carry a couple JIS screwdrivers, some experts I'm sure will explain that later, clear packing tape was my best friend early on because I'm not too religious about minor bits of tape on my planes ( heresy I know♦) hex wrenches in various needed sizes for snugging up gear, and adjustments to any lose linkages, wrenches or sockets for prop shaft nuts, a few types of glue, more expert advice to come perhaps on types, spare prop set for each kit, especially if a newbie, spare clevises, clear tubing for same, hemostats, hinge tape, long and short tweezers, needle nose pliers, a few files of different type and grits of sand paper gloves for the glue. And now I'm sick of typing. Little help Squawkers ? :cool::angel::p

Well you pretty much covered it I don't take quite as much as you do. I put all my field kit in a quart zip lock bag. I figure any thing I can't fix with tape or tighten is not a field repair other than a prop.

Since I drive 20+ mi to our clubs' field, I take a very well equipped field box that will allow mw to do open-heart surgery on any of my planes. I have helped other club members numerous times who had an issue that they weren't prepared for. I use the Harbor Freight large alum. case that carries everything quite handily. A couple neat items are the butane-powered small soldering iron & the 12v plug-in soldering iron that have saved the day on those "just-in-case" incidents several times. Here's a couple pics.....

That makes sense I'm sure I'm spoiled I only have to go 3 miles to fly so it would be easier to just run back home. Denny that is a good looking kit.

I'm like you FF, only 4mi as the crow flies or 7 by buggy but if I need to do open heart on a bird it comes back to the hospital hangar for the higher level of triage that these warbirds require. ;) Am using that same alum Harbor case that Denny showed for carrying my 4S batts and another one for my 6S.

Westsider.......neat analogy on your turbulence of the site but no worries for the weather casters have determined the cause of the occluded front and it WILL go away.

Forgot to add maybe some Velcro dots or small squares for securing small batteries in small starter planes. Could someone more eloquent and knowledgeable than I please explain the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) screwdrivers and different CA glues, Foam-Tac, and Gorilla Glue choices, and other favorites (Quick Grip works great!) and applications for foam? Thanks for sharing! :shy:

Glad, I found you guys, even though it's been awhile between posts. But, I'm new and still curious as to the very basic needs for a quick fly. Up until now, I wasn't sure what a basic set up would be. Now I have a general idea what to bring out the house with me. Thanks
