Thought I would give you guys a little taste of the balsa that I have been working on. This is the Sig King Kobra, for those of you unfamiliar with the plane, it was designed as a pattern plane, for a nitro .61 size engine. I have converted it to electric, and I plan on using a Rimfire 1.20 swinging a 14x8.75 APC prop, and using a ZTW Gecko 155A ESC and two Turnigy 3S, 6000mAh, 65C Graphene LiPos for power. I have also installed the MrRC Smoke system in it, and routed the tubes through the foam core wings, so that the smoke will exit from both wingtips. It has the retracts out of the Freewing F-14 in it to give it good ground clearance, and nice shock absorption. The entire airframe has been fiberglassed using Bondo Fiberglass resin and cloth, and is painted with Rust-O-Leum rattle can. The bats are Monokote trim sheet, drawn by myself, cut out and applied. I am about 30 days into the project, and hope to be able to maiden it on Christmas day!!

I will be installing the retracts soon. I have all of the mounts in, but I wanted to finish all of the painting before I started putting the electronics in. I left the fiberglass over the holes for the mains to make it easier to paint the bottom of the wing. Pics coming soon!!Originally posted by Alpha.MotionRC View PostNana nana nana nana nana nana nana nana... ;)

Okay Bat fans, and you too Alpha, here are some shots installing the nose gear, and of the Batplane on its feet for the very first time!!! I still have to mount the ailerons and the motor. Drill the holes and mount the cowl. Put the servos in and the control horns on, and create the pushrods. Install the ESC and balance the plane, and then.....

When I was a kid I would see the catelogs with Hazel Sig displaying those awesome planes!! I ended up flying some of the planes as I got a lil older but never did get to fly one of those! I can not imagine how amazing this thing will fly with electric power! I have seen several fly with nitro power and they were bullets!! Super precise and very fast!! Electric will make it just that much better! Would love to see the final result!!Check me out on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/user/gooniac33

The final result for this one wasn't very pretty. I fiberglassed it, which turned out to be a very bad idea. The plane weighed 16 lbs finished, all up. I knew that the RimFire 1.20 would still fly it at that weight, and, well, it was already done, so nothing I could do about it. It tip stalled after a 150 yard takeoff roll and plowed in. Only the fuselage was destroyed, so I have pulled the tail feathers off of it, and I am currently stripping the fiberglass off. I will Monokote it when I get done. I do have the Kobra (.19 size), and with a RimFire .46 on it and an 11x7.5 prop on 6S I get about 120 mph out of it!!!Originally posted by gooniac33 View PostWhen I was a kid I would see the catelogs with Hazel Sig displaying those awesome planes!!
