  • Another newbie here

    Hello All,

Just want to introduce myself here before getting into questions and discussions etc.. I was in the hobby 20 years ago and loved it. Took a long extended break lol. Last Christmas, my son and I got a couple of RC trucks, and I got him the Sport Cub s... Well you know how it goes. This summer got him out flying it and the bug hit again. I got myself a mini-apprentice and figured I would fly a little too...

I now have 4 planes in my hanger, adding a Corsair, piper cub and mini P-51. I also just got my son his second plane, a Timber. Plans include a larger scale P-51, still deciding between the FMS 1450 or the eflite 1200... Also getting a a-10, probably a sport plane and a f-16 as well..... My son has not decided for his 3rd plane yet, but has made it a point that dad should not get too far ahead :)

Anyways, I am all in with the hobby again, and looking forward to a lot of fun. I have been reading through here for a little while, and everybody seems to be good willed and helpful, so just a thanks right off the bat.

Welcome aboard putput. HobbySquawk is a wonderful place to learn, share and grow in the hobby. It is cool that your son has the bug as well. Like you, I got back into RC planes after a long break and so much has changed with electrics and foamies now being a reality that we did not used to have. I have fallen in love with the hobby all over again as a result. Enjoy.

Welcome, Putput. I got an A-10 for Christmas. Beautiful plane in spite of being called a Warthog. I like to think it got it's name because that Gatling gun sounds like a Warthog with a severe flatulance problem. Doc

Welcome putput. There are a lot of us that took that long break from the hobby. For many of us other priorities needed taking care of first. I got back into it four years ago. You are right, a lot has changed. The options are endless and yes, there is a lot to learn. Thankfully though, we have forums, like this one, with great people to help, and great companies like Motion RC that present great product and the best support. There has never been a better time to be in this hobby. Welcome back!

I am another one of those who has taken a long break. I actually started in REAL airplane flying - 1st in a Cherokee 140 and then PA29 high wing. Anyway, I enjoyed building and creating and going to RC flyins. That was back in the early 90's. Guess it has been some 20+ years and just now coming back - and in electrics of all things.
