I will get one of the great fighters. I finally saved enough money but I can't decided which one to get. I really like both of these iconic war birds. I wish I could get both at the same time. For any of you pilots that already have flown both, can you recommend one over the other. Does the Bf 109 have sturdy landing gear ? I know the Bf 109 is a bit more of a challenge to takeoff due to the narrow gear but that would not stop me from buying it. Are both able to be flown well enough by a mediocre intermediate pilot such as myself or is one easier to fly? Ryan, you and Capt. Mike have done videos on both, which would be your choice ?

Ahoy Baron, wow tough question they both are fantastic. They fly different but both are rock solid in the air. The BF109 will float on landings and the retracts will hold up. The problem with the retracts is, over time they will sag a little because the wheels and struts are heavy when they close. The FW190 is awesome, but if flying on grass you'll have to cut the gear covers shorter because it has shock absorbing struts and the covers will dig in the ground causing damage. I like the FW190 cause the wheels are closer to the front of the plane this helps a lot on ground handling. The only way to be satisfied is to get both planes. The trick on take off with BF109 is slow run up and add right rudder as needed make sure the run-up is a little longer than most planes and be sure the plane has plenty of lift before leaving the ground. German planes are performance based and the models reflect the real ones. My advice is study the history of the planes and see which way you lean towards.
