  • FMS WACO Replacement Prop

    Greetings Gang,

I am about to order the FMS WACO and I have been doing some research on replacement props. Some say that the standard "2-Blade" replacement prop shown under the replacement parts list is too heavy thus causing additional heat/strain to the ESC. I have also read in forums that the APC 11X8 is a good replacement allowing the WACO to run cooler. I have also seen wooden props installed.

Obviously, I would like to order the props along with the plane, so any experienced input here would be most appreciated and helpful.

    Re: FMS WACO Replacement Prop

I have not tried an APC prop yet. I ordered a couple of stock props when I bought the plane, fortunately I have not had to use any of them.
I can tell you that the prop that came with the plane required significant material to be removed from the tip to get it balanced.
The prop did seem a bit heavy, and APC is the e-prop performance standard. I would think that the weight of the prop would only come into play when accelerating it, and not be much of an issue at steady speed. Any differences may just be the higher efficiency of the APC prop. I do like how the stock set-up looks.

      Greetings Randol,

Thanks for the input. I will be curious once the plane is finished to investigate the stock prop performance.
