I've been converting his old timer that I got from the club when the club members and I've ran into a problem HobbyKing servo plugs have these fins on it it won't fit into my Spektrum receiver. Should I just cut those fins off or is there any is there a certain thing I should do considering that the plane was FM

Hello Michaelj................the servo plug fin is indicative of a Futaba style plug. It is not a problem to just shave/cut them off for use on Spektrum/JR/Hitec setups.
It has been done for ages. ;)
