  • Scratch and Dent sale experience

Here's a topic I haven't seen yet. Thought it would be interesting to hear of other's Scratch and Dent experiences. I was always a bit leary of diving into a non-warranty covered plane/jet. But thought I'd take a chance this time because I really wanted my T-45 back again. My last one took a nose dive into the lake, completely destroying it.

That's another story all in itself? Totally my error!

So, I just had to pull the trigger on this one.

Here's my Scratch and Dent experience thus far:

Another great video! Congrats on the new T-45. Sorry to hear about your first one. I know how much you loved to fly it. Good luck on the maiden for this one. Hope you get some good weather soon.

Yeah, still need to try out the Foam Tac. Do you think that would've been tacky enough to stay put, yet removable if I've needed?

          Thanks!

I also use welders glue in the red tube. Pliable yet strong.

Epo foam safe but not EPS. I use it all the time to repair planes with foam hinges.
But it will burn right through styrofoam (EPS)

I got the FliteLine FW 190 from the scratch and dent. They said it had a paint chip off of the fuse at the battery hatch and the small parts bag had been opened. The paint chip was about 1/4 in x 1/8 in and the linkage rod that connects the tail wheel and rudder was missing from the parts bag other than that the plane was perfect. I had a control rod in my spare parts that fit and I'm not even going to fix the paint it's so small. It was a great deal at $40 off. Like I said earlier it was kinda like stealing it.

I know, right? What a deal that one was too! I may have to look at that page more often...if only I had room in the hangar.

It's in the southeast corner of the panhandle about 100 miles southeast of Amarillo. Small town just over 300 people live here.

So many towns in Texas! Been to Amarillo a few times but I guess never south of there in your direction. Is RC big there?

Mostly just me and my two grown sons. Between the three of us we have 25 planes from um's to 1400mm mostly in the 1100 to 1200mm warbirds. I taught myself to fly then helped my sons and a couple of other guys get started. By the way of the 25 planes 15 are mine.

Oh yeah, you've got the bug! I just sold about 25 planes and still have way too many. Need to sell about 5 or 6 more so I can make room for the ones still in the boxes, as well as the soon to arrive A-10.

You probably don't have a lack of space to fly like we do here in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. The city has closed in on us around here. Lucky you!!!

Great video Skywolf! Are you planning on attending Warbirds Over Lake Benbrook next weekend? Might be able to help you unload some of those pesky extra planes ;) If you are ever looking to escape some of the DFW madness, any of you guys are welcome down at Golden Triangle anytime!
