  • Won't be long now!!!

    Greetings,

Only 11 Days, 6 hours, 50 minutes until the hopeful availability of the Freewing 80mm F-86!!!

    But Hey, Who's counting??????
Fingers crossed...... I just don't know why, but I am obsessed with this plane......

On another note, and I really do hate to bring up planes that MRC doesn't carry but, when you come across one regardless of who makes/carries it you just have to let folks know. That ONE is the Durafly Sky Mule... If you haven't checked it out I highly recommend you do. If you want to talk about a plane that flies times 10 better than it looks, and it looks awesome, to borrow a term from my daughter, OMG!!

I maidened mine today and it is flawless, a pilot's dream and a total crowd pleaser!! It is my first twin-engine plane and I couldn't be happier!! Good power on a 3300mAh 3-cell with 7-8 minute flight times at 3/4 throttle and excellent low speed fly-by characteristics. Landings are cotton ball light. Although it can be set up for FPV (option) I sport-fly mine. Money very well spent.

      Greetings Starhopper,

I suppose I can only give you half an answer on how the Sky Mule handles on grass.
I've not tried a grass take off as our field is paved however, due to a pretty hefty cross-wind I have found my self a bit off the runway and landing on the grassy shoulder a couple of times. The grass is cut but, it's no putting surface.

All in all the plane took it well. Admittedly, it's a bit spooky with the long, lanky main gear having such a high folcrum but no damage found other than some CA I employed for additional strength to the main gear connection points broke free on one side. I just fixed that right there at the field.
I would like to have seen the long gear housings made of ABS rather than foam.

For under $200 as a PNP and with the included FPV features and included skis, which I can't wait to try this winter, and now knowing how well it flys, I believe it was a steal.

This link shows a guy who added a drop door to his and includes a few grass take offs and landings. (I Hope)

            Greetings Guy's

            Happy, Happy, Happy!!

Today I received my Freewing A-10 Thunderbolt II and F-86 EDF's!!
Of course I've only had time to open the boxes and inspect parts and pieces but suffice it to say that both arrived well boxed/packaged with everything intact.

At first glance? Wow! That's about it........ both aircraft appear VERY well engineered and are impressive in their attention to detail.

            More to come.....

                Hi Bill,

Just looking at your picture of the Skymule, and while I like it, the plane just behind it looks a lot like a larger Skyraider. Is that correct, and if so, how does it fly? Is it the Starmax kit?

As for your new arrivals, wow! Two nice choices, I like both the A-10 and the F-86. I would love to see the flight videos from both. Enjoy the assembly and maiden flights on those!
