Dornier Heer DO-27 from Air Epic.....

Hey guys,
Here's another great looking/size plane I would purchase from MRC. I hope MRC is monitoring these threads to get some insight of what their customer base is in the market for & ready to spend their hard-earned $$$$$$ on. I really like the military version...not too much into zebras.

I have had that Taft Doriner 27 for a while. The exact same Doriner 27 plane is offered as a Cloud 9 brand sold by another FMS distributor. They also offer it in a "zebra" color pattern as well as the camo version. The one flaw that really needs to be corrected is the plastic housing that the metal gear struts are mounted into under the fuse. The plastic brackets are only glued to the foam. They are not going to stand up. REINFORCE those mounting brackets. If you have less than good landing the large metal gear rods will rip out that plastic mount tearing the side of the fuse and the gear pants as well. The wheel pants are easily cracked so reinforce those as well with some "gorilla" type tape. Because of the extensive damage I had to the gear pants, I did not put the gear pants back on and therefore had to modify the sides of the fuse where the damage had happened. Aside from the gear housing weakness the plane looks good and flies well plus it can withstand breezy conditions.

I just completed the assembly of the Taft Dorneir DO-27 and I remembered that you had posted some info on your experience with this plane a while back.

Just wanted to say thanks for the posting as I was wondering about the integrity of the gear mountings myself.

Hey guys,
I'm 'ol school as far as doing a complete evaluation of a product to determine any areas that may benefit from a "bit-of-tweaking". There were a few mods I felt would definitely enhance the Do-27 prior to maiden, & one was the epoxing of the total LG plastic mount area & changing the plastic LG tabs to Dubro steel tabs. Here's a link to give a pictorial view of what I did that, I feel, will render this plane much better in all aspects.

Hey Bill,
I must have had another "senior" moment as I forgot to include the CG location on my RCG thread. I edited the thread(RCG) to include the measurement, 80mm from LE, as per the instructions. Thanks for the reminder.....
