SIG Kougar (modified)

This is a SIG Kougar I built for my granddaughter for her 3rd birthday. I removed the turtle deck, added retracts, electric power (of course), and a fancy paint scheme with all of the Disney Princesses on it. It flies very well on a 4S 4000mah pack.

I hope this plane built "for her" don't turn out like the first Lionel electric train set my dad bought "for me". You know, the one I never actually got to play with, until he'd pretty thoroughly wrecked it? *LOL*

A neighbor who worked in Dad's garage somehow managed to buy the exact same set for his boy - what a coincidence, eh? I got to open my Christmas present, take off the box top....and 5 minutes later it was re-packed & we were hustling off on our way to the other guy's house, where he & Dad spent the rest of the day racing trains while me & my playmate got to watch from the sidelines. What a thrill!

I was going over some older pictures of my planes and found a couple that I wanted to share. The first is a Night Flier that was scratch built with all of the LEDs mounted inside the wing. The second was built from plans for something called an Aerotique (antique aerobatic plane). I made several modifications to the plans and came up with this. The last is my Marstin Pterodactyl.

Nice planes but I really like the Pterodactyl. I have that Pterodactyl model on the Real Flight sim. Where did you get it and what is the wingspan ? Is it hard to fly because of the V tail ? I don't use a programmable radio so I guess I couldn't fly a V tail.

Baron, hello. The bird was ordered directly from Marston at pteroworks.com. Just do a search in the web. This is the 52" version. You can use a standard radio if you purchase a v-tail mixing unit. I think they run about $15 but I could be wrong. The build takes a little skill but not overly hard. If flies fine, much like a small sport plane but it can do some soaring too if you keep it light. An okay plane but I didn't fly it much.
