Gman, just tell the wife that this hobby keeps you from looking at other women (and out of trouble). That seems to work most of the time. Now, if we can ever convince more women to come out and pick up the RC hobby, then there may be a problem. Perhaps you can get her into this so any new plane can be claimed as being bought for HER, but as long as she's not flying it you'll break it in.

Re: What's in your hangar ?

Hey guys, any advice on how you hook up the lights on the WACO.
Its not very clear in the instructions. I know you get a double y cord in the kit, but the ends are three pronged whereas the light connections are two.

By the way , she says she wants a plane thats bigger than mine, 8 foot wingspan.
That I'd have to see as she's only 5' 1"
Didn't tell her she'd have to assemble it.
                Does size matter?

                  Greetings G56,

Man, taking a flight school class with the spouse???
Plus she wants an 8 foot plane???
Man, if she also buy's the beer out of her own pocket, you've found a Goddess!!!! <smiley image="smiley_good.gif"/>

Seriously, that really is awesome!! I hope you take lots of photos to be used as weapons by us on our wives!!!

When hooking up your Waco lights, just align the two-wire connector up with the three-wire connector so the Red (+ middle wire) and the Negative (usually Brown or Black) match up. You won't need the signal wire connection (usually Orange or White). Once their all harnessed up I just plug it into the AUX channel.

                  Here's an example:

I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already but, hey, I'm a teacher and I feel obligated to help. <smiley image="anim_working.gif"/>

Re: What's in your hangar ?

                        Greetings I74,

I have indeed been to LDRS in Argonia, KS.
I did my L1/2 certification flights there.
However, I unfortunately was not there in the 90's.

I think I have seen either photos or perhaps a video of the Patriot Launch.
I'm hoping to attend again the next time it's held in Ks.

                        Have you launched at LDRS?

                        Bill L.

Re: What's in your hangar ?

                          Hi Guys,
Yes, I put one and one together and figured out the wires for the lights! Duh!!
The biggest problem with this kit is the poor instruction manual, the pictures are sooooo bleached out !!
The landing gear pants are a ROYAL pain! There is nothing in the manual on how to install them and I can't get them to stay on. I figured out the bars and where they attach to the fuselage, but there's two screw points near the base of the pants and nothing to attach there, or anything directly to the to the fuselage. How the heck??
                          Teacher Bill, PLEASE!

                          Grossman56
By the way, she was there with flashlight and helping hands to get the top wing attached, otherwise I'd still be working on it. Looks like the end of flying season, its raining/snowing outside GRRRR!!!!

I was just part of our Colorado Tripoli project rocket, that was over 13 feet tall, and went off with a 3 stage - 7 engine cluster, with an O motor in the center<smiley image="smiley_good.gif"/>... Ian

                              Greetings G56,

Man, I really like the kind of Barn-Stormer red and white version.

AHH, that piece of the puzzle did have me scratching my noggin.

I finally discovered that the vertical section of the wheel pants assembly basically wedged and snapped into place around the wire gear rods between the wheel pants and the fuse. I had to finally CA them on the top and bottom on the inside once in place to get them to hold. The only screws that I remember being involved in the wheel pants assembly were those that attached the plastic support rods on the inside of the vertical covers at one end through an eye-hole holding them to the wire rod and a spring at the other end connecting it to the bottom of the fuse.

To be honest, they were the first things to come off on landing. Any flex in the wire rod on touch down sends them flying. I've been running without them lately and use just the wheel covers. Look kind of different but cool in its own way.

Sorry if this wasn't much help.

                                Greetings I74,

That would certainly have been a thrill to have seen.
I'll have to go through my old LDRS DVD's and see if it got recorded.

Our rocket club here in Southwest Oklahoma is currently in hold status as we just recently lost access to our 90 acre club launch site. We're homeless until something comes up. Hopefully soon.

                                    OK, here's the "before"

And here's the "intermediate" Fus length is about the same as Ol' Weedwacker, bet the performance isn't!

                                    And here's the "present"

I have the rigging to do, the elastic thread arrived so there's a weekend project.

So, what's the glue for? There has to be a way to attach the landing gear covers so that they stay on.
                                    I'll figure it out.............

                                      Greetings G56,

                                      Man, that is looking great!!

Like I mentioned, I had to CA covers on. And they still popped off on touchdown.
I simply left mine off and I kind of like it better. Gives it big feet!

If you checked out the plastic thread they provide you can see what a nightmare it is trying to get a permanant knot in it. I think you'll really like the elastic thread.

                                      Keep us in the loop.......
