  • EDF jets and torque roll?

My Stinger HP jet seems to torque severely to the left on hand launch at full throttle. Makes for a bent nose every time.
Do EDF jets get torque roll like prop planes?
Do I need to launch at less throttle?
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks guys.

Yes, EDF jets get torque roll, for the same reasons as prop planes. How much depends a lot on wing span vs. fan diameter (just like prop planes). If you can, program a switch for launch that counters the roll, and switch it off once adequate airspeed is attained. Barring that, yes, find a lower power setting that will still allow the plane to reach flying speed, or have a helper toss it for you, so you can keep control via the transmitter. One of our club members created a catapult launcher, much like the Navy uses, but not steam powered, so he could launch himself, but still have control of the planes.

Thanks, I have ordered a Jetapult. I will let you know how it works.

Bill....this is what i installed on my Stinger64 HP,

        http://www.motionrc.com/freewing-stinger-64-fixed-landing-gear/

I take off from a grass runway and it needs about 150 feet to take off, but no more hand launches.
the gears only take a little from top speed due to drag.
        hope this helps
