I guess I was stupid to think regular red Loctite Threadlocker for small parts would work on everything.....well is doesn't!!!!! Why would I think it would destroy plastic.....I wouldn't it. Anyway, I am assembling my NEW FMS WACO Biplane and the wing cabanes are held by tiny, self tapping screws into plastic fittings in the wings and fuselage. Well after putting everything together it looked great, however I thought I would be smart (and prevent later disaster in the air) and back out each screw and put a very tiny bit of thread locker on each and retighten. I was just finished with the last of 16 screws, turned the plane over and the entire top wing fell off! What the %$#@#$%. It appears that regular thread locker EATS plastic and caused stress cracks. WELL NOW YOU TELL ME. Every cabane and half the wing connection points have broken off. I now need BOTH wings to be replaced, and new cabanes, non repairable. I am very upset, I really had no idea that this liquid would eat plastic. I went to Loctite's website and if you look at the fine print at the bottom of the uses section it says not for thermo molded plastics as it could create stress cracks........no kidding.
Just wanted to let everyone who didn't already know that, to give you that bit of wisdom before it's too late.
