    Gentle Lady Electric Conversion
    I am half way with my GL electric conversion project. I built the GL back in 1984, from a kit, as per the specs and now need advice/encouragement. I have been out of the loop for the past 15 years. Before starting this project I did a lot of internet research, including this RC forum. Now I am ready to share my fun.
    I would like to communicate with other GL conversion builders.
    Please reply back
    The plane will have a motor pod.
    I have two motor pod projects:
    MINI POD: pusher configuration
    SIG POD: standard puller configuration

    MINI POD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCNeZCgKq6Q The YouTube site has it as a “POWER POD Gentle Lady Glider “new product.

    During the video the commentator has a GentEEL Lady ,a smaller version of the GL???????

    I got the part and all of the other parts needed to complete the pod.

    Have not done a mini pod test flight.

    PROPELLOR = https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3938361606..

    MOTOR = https://www.hobbyrc.co.uk/iflight-xin...

    I had a LiPo 2600 2cell and a Hobby King 30aUBEC

    See attached image of finished mini pod

    SIG POD: I built this pod back in 1990.
    I found these specs on the internet
    PROPELLOR =8045MR
    Motor - Turnigy D2830/11 1000KV Max Current 21 Amp I had a LiPo 2600 2cell and a Hobby King 30aUBEC

    See attached image of finished mini pod

    General specs: I have only flight tested the plane without any of the motor configuration or parts.

    CG = 3.5 to 3.75 in behind the leading edge
    The plane ready to fly with LiPo and rec. without pod or UBEC = 846g
    The plane with mini pod and UBEC ready to fly = 926g
    The plane with SIG pod and UBC ready to fly = 1070g
    Mini pod only = 31.0g
    Sig pod only = 172g
    UBEC = 46g
    LiPo 2600 2cell = 99g
    Skyfly Rec = 16g
    My research has shown that:
    Plane with mini pod is 189g overweight.
    Plane with SIG pod 333g overweight.
    I expected the SIG pod config to be overweight, but not the mini pod config.
    Any thoughts out there??????
    I have only flight tested the plane without any motor configuration.

    Click image for larger version Name:	IMG_0151.jpg Views:	0 Size:	77.8 KB ID:	423948 Not related to the electric conversion, but I did the conversion of more than doubling the center section…beefed up the root structure to handle the load. No other changes were made. HUGE 14 ft wing resulted that flew well. So well, that I had to install 3 ft of spoiler to each wing.

    I still have it, but she needs tail repair after several moves over the years. I launched her with a Cox .09 on an on-top of the root power pod. Longest thermal flight was about 2 hours. I am just getting my right hand on the transmitter after throwing her…in the photo (circa 1978).

      This takes me way back.

      Sold many Gentle Lady kits back in my Hobby Shop days of yore.

      Brings a smile to my face.
