You might not want to wish too hard on this one Bill. A 36" w/s for $299 !!!! Freewing makes the F-86 in a 47" w/s for the same money. Now here's the irony, the F-86(USAF) was redesigned for Navy aircraft carrier operations by basically extending the nose gear strut and making the wings foldable thus the FJ-2 Fury. Soooo, if Freewing would take the F86 model and do a Navy livery with an extend nose strut for the same $299 ticket, they would now have a FJ-2 Fury and I predict another winner because this ol' Navy Nam era vet would grab one for sure just like I had to have the A6 Intruder(because I was with VA-35 Black Panthers - Go Navy).

        Greetings Guys,

Indeed, this is a bit on the pricey side but, I attribute that to the AS3X on board.
My hope it that they will eventually release a PNP w/o the AS3X which should put it at a price point suitable to its size as a 70mm EDF.

I do have the Freewing 80mm F-86 and the A-6 and both are sweet rides.

I predict this will be a sales dud. I bet that for MotionRC the Freewing F 86 will out sell the E-Flite FJ-2 at close to 50:1

Many of us with long memories will remember this F-86 from E-Flite. Looks like a better value than the new FJ-2
          http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/De...ProdID=EFL8100

I think E-flite will be forced to drop the price much like they have with the Splendor.
          http://rctruth.com/index.php?topic=1858.0

I think the AS3X would only account for $20 at the retail level.

            Greetings,

Indeed, I hope your right, at least on the part about the price coming down.

If/when that happens it might justify looking into this EDF a bit deeper.

I really haven't been interested in anything E-flite has done since the T-34 way back.
I do like the looks of this one none the less as it follows the same livery scheme.

RE: NEW!! FJ-2 Fury 15 DF BNF Basic with AS3X From E-Flite

I agree that the price seems a bit high for the level of equipment on this one, but I also know that Horizon products are usually really good and well engineered. I particularly like the paint scheme on this one. The AS3X is a really nice system and does a lot to smooth out the flight. Still, at nearly 300.00 and no retracts, it is hard to justify when the same money can get an 80mm F86 from Freewing that does have retracts and flaps. Tough choice...

                Hi guys,

We will carry the new E-Flite fury. I agree, it is on the pricey side for a 4 channel 70mm EDF but also agree E-Flite planes are normally good quality and well thought out. I'm sure we will sell a few but as Konrad said, it will not be a huge hit for us. After the E-Flite P-51D mustang, it is a bit disappointing to see Horizon going back to 4 channel planes.

                  Greetings Tom,

Since MRC will carry this bird, I would be curious to see the guy's do a flight/quality vs. price review/video on it.

                  Perhaps.

As a matter of interest, why not order the F86 and get an AR635 with AS3X built into it, seems to me that if you want a Fury just because of the AS3X that this would be a better alternative, then modify the nose gear and paint her up in Navy livery, I'm just sayin'

Good idea! I am still working my way up the EDF ladder, so either one of these is not in the immediate future for me. Once I get a bit more time in with the F9F, MIG-15, and the Rebel, I hope to move up to that Dynam Me-262. Then maybe the F-86! Always got to have a goal in mind!! Ha!

                            Thanx,

I certainly apologize. We were swamped during the Christmas season so I did not have a chance to post. I like the idea of a Freewing Fury. I know it sounds simple but it would take some time to make a new paint mold and do the small modifications needed. With all the projects we have going with Freewing, I'm guessing it would be a while before a new color scheme could be developed. The new F5 Tiger II, Super Scorpion, and 90mm F-16C (all coming soon) are just the tip of the ice berg so the more I think about it the more I realize a new color scheme would not be in the cards right now. I'm looking forward to flying the E-Flite Fury. It should be here any day now.

Thanx for the insight. Guess I won't hold my breath on a Freewing FJ-2. Not gonna do the Eflite because the size is too small and the money is outrageous for its size. G56's comment on modifying the Freewing F-86 is most likely the best bet(but no gyro). Just hate buying a plane all loaded up with decals and then having to tear them off.
                              Happy New Year to MRC

I hear you OV, what would be great is if these companys (Freewing, FMS, etc) would come up with a  "Factory" version. Comes off the line with the best looking metalic surface that you could get on an RC and when you order, you pick the decal sheet in the spare parts section.  Watch the explosion of custom painted airplanes.  In the case of some of the jets that were never metalic, make them neutral grey or stock camo.  We were just commenting on P51s and how it was such an international fighter in its time, yet all the liveries available are American.  Nothing wrong with that, but it would be cool to have the choice........

I would think that production cost of the airframe in a generic look to be "dolled" up by the modeler would be more cost effective in production which results in a savings to the consumer too. If the manufactures gave us a "plane jane"(luv a simile) with optional decal liverys', I would be all over that like a vulture on a gut pile. So sign me up Gman, because I totally agree with you and I'll join your campaign for a Factory version.
