  • Boom....loving ittttttttttt. I am glad to have Freewing and Motion RC around to provide the passion to produce models we could have only dreamed of years ago, let alone at an affordable price. Truly incredible!

    • Alpha is correct. At first I had no interest in the L-39. But boy am I glad I decided to cave and buy it. It is one sweet flying bird! I have all my decals for the repaint, I just need to get it in the shop. But between our club auction this Saturday, and our annual Jet Rally after that, it may not be until December.

Well, it's kind of an unfair comparison when you consider how long the LX versions were out on the market before Freewing's came along, plus what over the years has become "standard", e.g. metal landing gear, metal-geared servos, etc.

Would be fun to compare this FW with a modified LX fitted with a 90mm EDF, just to see how the different thrust/weight/lift factors play out.

IMO revolutionary, not really. Evolutionary, yes.

          • Not a fan of the size (prefer 70 mm or less, with a very few exclusions) nor of the F-22(rooted for the YF-23 during the ATF competition).

            • This release has truly raised the bar on our hobby. The scale detail is just awesome, and yet it looks very flyable. Another hit out of the park by MotionRC.
As a design engineer on the YF-22, you have captured the essence of this aircraft in beautiful scale. Thanks for such a wonderful release of the F-22!

              • Super happy since this morning, all the boys at the field here in Florida have been talking, even a turbine pilot pre-ordered today! Thank you for picking the Raptor, it's capable of all types of flying and I've been personally waiting for something this size for a long time! I've had all the smaller versions and enjoyed flying them all, super excited. :)

What if someday there might be a new model that is at top of your list only it's a 80mm or larger? I for one have a Saab AJS-37 Viggen at the top of my list that I would prefer as an 80mm, but if it were to be a 90mm I would not even hesitate in ordering one.

About the only 80 or 90 mm I would buy would be an XB-70 with a single EDF feeding a six exhaust manifold the way the Nice Sky/Hobbyking version did. Price aside, my biggest problem is the field I have to deal with. Check this thread on why it's hard to fly anything larger than 70 mm:
Greetings all. I'm sure that some of you have noted in some of my posts that the reason I prefer the smaller and less exspensive planes is because I fly

                    • Valkpilot, your cramped field likely makes you a better pilot that someone that has a lot of space. At least a silver lining;).
