    I just ran a static test on my F16 64mm Falcon by Free wing

    I just ran a static test on my F16 64mm falcon by Free wing and I noticed the motor runs a lot hotter than a propped plane regular type example P51 mustang.
    is this because not enough air gets in the duct when static testing it?

    Quite possible.

    Strange things happen when you run an EDF with inadequate air intake fr the fan's rpm It might just try to beat the air in the fan into submission without having much effective thrust.

    And then there's the question of how you went about your test. Holding an IR thermometer at the tailpipe while the fan is running would further reduce the airflow.

    And then its possible that the P51's motor is under less % of rated watts load then the EDF. We tend to drive the EDFs right to the max watts the motors can take.

    What temperatures did you get?
    FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.

    current planes from 1/2 oz to 22 lbs

        The actual temperatures do matter as excess temperature can be a sign of a problem.

        160 F or above can damage the motors, degrading insulation and demagnetizing the magnets. Once those happen damage just accelerates. The motor gets hotter and produces less power due to the effects of reduced magnetic field strength.
        FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.

          Try running a household fan at it while it's running. Have it blow in the air intake. That gives it some air flow.
