Yeah it is unfortunately what comes to pass with more expensive models. If it doesn't sell, they gotta make room for ones that do. -
We can only hope that FW is clearing the drawing table for a v2 without the thrust vectoring as it really should have been.
I truly believe it didn't see the sales due to the thrust vectoring which is the main reason why I didn't buy it and I am a huge fan of the F/A-18.Warbird Charlie

All the thrust vector did was make it fly unrealistically and add cost.FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.

I'm glad I got mine this year. I don't mind the thrust vectoring although I don't take advantage of what they can do except maybe to shorten take off roll a little from rough grass. The full flying elevators do make for easier rotation anyway. Mine is the Australian air force theme and was one of the last few remaining.
On the topic of thrust vectoring, I just noticed that my SebArt Mig 29 with T.V. has also recently been discontinued. It's made by Freewing for SebArt. It's been replaced by the "standard" version (no T.V.). One has to ponder the future of the FW SU-34 (with T.V.).As for cost, I see that the airframe only version (similar to a "kit" version) for the Mig is still obtainable and the price difference between the T.V. version and the "Standard" version is only $5.00. Add in the 3 servos that the T.V. needs and difference goes up by a few more dollars.Comment

Agreed about the TV. An F-18 with TV and no rudders? C'mon, man!
I really want a nice scale F-18. I'll buy it for sure, but couldn't make myself buy that one. My friend has it, and it just doesn't seem up to standard with the other FW military jets, like the F-15, F-16, A-4 and A-10. Those are all superb planes that are very satisfying to look at and to fly.
Do that with the F-18, and you'll sell a ton of them.Comment

I am actually not surprised it was discontinued. While the F/A-18 in general is a great airplane the FW 90mm model was not the greatest rendition of it. I had actually been seen the writing on the wall of these forums for some time of many complaints about this model and many of them were put off by the thrust vectoring or it just didn't look right to them. So if it was not selling well it was just a matter of time before it got discontinued.
But don't worry as either an improved V2 or replacement will eventually return.Comment

I'm also disappointed that it is discontinued. I am assuming that Freewing will not be supplying parts other than what is left in current inventory? A new version would be a head turner for sure!iComment

That model seems light as a feather. Mine flies on 6s, 5000mah and it's feels very heavy. I'm not so sure mine would have enough power/weight to hover like that. Even on a 4000mah, it still feels heavy. I'll give it a try next time I'm out with it but at very high altitude in case it can't do it.Comment
