  • Dynam Meteor 5S

Have any of you ran the Dynam Meteor on a 5S setup? I am looking at getting it but it seems a bit under powered and would like to know what needs to be done to run 5s.

    Thanks

    RE: Dynam Meteor 5S

Here is a thread on mine.
    http://rctruth.com/index.php?topic=2364.0

Let me say that as a pilot "speed" really is boring, it is fun to watch but by itself it is well... And this is from a guy that flew FAI F3D Pylon and still flies pylon racer. Precision at speed is where the fun and challenge is.

As the Meteor is a light sport 70mm jet if I was to do it again I would keep it light and on 4 cells. The little extra gain in speed with a 5 cell is not worth the loss in flying time. This really is not a fast airframe as the fuselage is draggy and the wings are too thick (also way too draggy)! They need to be thick to give the foam some strength. On 4 cells she will make nice large loops and actually has a very nice climb rate. She does not lack for power even if her speed is around 90 mph.

The only mod I'd do for speed is install a tail tube liner. Many guys have had good luck with the stock components on 5 cells.

I think the Freewing Rebel with the added flaps would make a better airframe to start with as flaps become an advantage as the weight goes up with the larger 5 cell battery.

I've had two meteors it is a terrific plan I have been drawn to this type of airframe have a happy as well I prefer the meteor now this is a fast plane on the stock system it runs well we've run it on 5S suck but you cannot be running Full Throttle all the time I watched my meteor smoke the ESC and kiss the ground hard so for short bursts with a 5S it's okay but the weight penalty isn't worth it it is a terrific flying 4S jet
