Slow flying Avanti 80mm sport jet

Red Avanti sport jet. I’ve got 5 flights on it now and flys real nice but noticeable slower than other Avanti at the field. No way to measure mph but estimate to be 80 or less. I was pacing a 3 cell sport plane and wasn’t that much faster.

ive recalibrated the esc end points a couple times and checked amps. 95 amps with 2156 watts fresh battery. Not sure where to go from here. The battery ir looks good and have used more than 1 pack.

If it can fly, I can crash it...

I've got a red one and thought the same thing. It doesn't seem very fast. There is a yellow one at our field too and it is noticeably quite a bit faster. I have similar amp draw to yours at full throttle and I too have tried other batteries, but no difference... I thought the red one was supposed to be quicker than the Yellow one.

I was thinking about ordering the new 80mm FMS 2100kv inrunner fan, but haven't done it yet. I read a post somewhere where someone did and they were getting 130mph!

It's not a drop in and requires some work to make it fit...

I have another 10 or so flights with mine. Flys nice but not the advertised speed. I spoke with Motion but no suggestions other than what I have done. It acts like the motor is the wrong kv.

I’m not spending more money on this one.

If the motor was the wrong kv you'd be drawing less amps to spin less RPMs...

You don't think you are getting 115? Whats your altitude and how are you measuring speed?

Maybe put an exhaust tube in for smoother flow?

No GPS or radar. Just casual observation, but it is definitely slower than a Yellow 12 blade Avanti at our field. My Horizon Viper 70mm even looks faster than my red Avanti. The Avanti is definitely not doing 115, more like 80-90...

Well, I've flown my Avanti more the last few outings and it is speeding up considerably. I'm not sure what changed... Same batteries, but the speed has improved a lot. Possibly bearings freeing up? I'm at a loss as to why, but it seems about right now. Seriously it seems to have picked up at least 20 mph! Regardless of why, I'm happy...
