After more than a decade of not flying anything RC I've jumped back in. Right now I'm only flying some second hand warbirds but the dream is to move in EDF jets. I got way ahead of myself and purchased a 90mm F-22. I have no plans to fly it in the near future but since I hate staring at a box I put it together last night. Even though its just going to sit for a while I want to set it up correctly and had a dumb question. I've already found the CG and have moved onto the controls. I understand how to set dual/high rates In the radio but I guess I'm not quite sure how to set the elevator neutral as well as the max mm control deflection. The manual calls for a 5.5mm offset and I'm unclear if this is set physically on the plane (if so, how?) or is it set through the radio? I noticed something similar watching build videos of the F-4 (someday) and it mentions to set the 8mm offset before gluing on a rear piece so I'm guessing its a physical adjustment on the jet? Again, sorry for the dumb question, but I just want to be able to hang this thing up and I like knowing that when it's time its set up and ready to go. Appreciate any help!

To set neutral on the elevators, do this manually. See the attached pic for a better explanation of where to measure from and to. Manually adjust the control linkage to make the 5.5mm mark, and be sure that both elevators hit the same mark at the leading edge. If you can't get them to hit the 5.5mm mark exactly, then put them to where the leading edges are both at the same measurement, and then adjust with subtrim.
To measure control throw, measure at the trailing edge of the control surface. I just use a ruler that has millimeters. Just hold it at the back edge and adjust the amount of deflection in the radio.1 PhotoPat
