  • What if Freewing & Motion RC partnered with BVM to offer a foam EDF Sport Jet (Bandit, Renegade, etc.)?

This has been on my mind for many years now, and I know others that I’ve talked to have thought the same. So, who here would like to see Freewing and Motion RC partner together to manufacture a BVM foam EDF Sport Jet like the Bandit (my first choice), Renegade, etc.?

BVM has a strong history in the RC community, and I can’t think of a better foam EDF jet manufacturer and distributor than Freewing and Motion RC now a days to help bring a BVM Sport Jet to market and continue that great reputation for jet aircraft, just in a different manner (i.e. foam). Other companies have partnered with one another over the years to bring their designs to foam such as the Avanti and the Havoc. So, I don’t see this as being a far fetched idea.

Let’s gauge some interest in this thread. Show some support if this is an idea you’d like to see come to fruition. Freewing and Motion RC are always listening, so speak .

I’ll take multiple Bandits and Renegads please, in various color schemes. Ha-ha

You realize BVM is now selling HSDJETS? I'd expect a partnership there first.

      Just a thought,

I know, Sean . Seeing BVM offer HSD foam jets (although I noticed HSD also has their first composite jet now) seems to open to the door to the ideology and potential of partnering with various companies on different projects. If BVM decides to partner with HSD on a foam jet in the future, then that’s okay, of course.

However, I’d still like to see other partnerships as well, which brings me back to the idea of Freewing and Motion RC partnering with BVM. At the moment, for foam EDF jets, I prefer a Freewing manufactured product. With that said, I respect and own various brands of jets (whether that be foam, balsa, or composite), and wish them all the best in this hobby. Having more choices in RC products is a nice thing to have.

Are you the same Sean that is associated with HSDJets?

I am...I'm a team pilot for RC Jetwerx and HSDJETSUSA.

I agree new partnerships can bring new products to market and more choice is good for us consumers. I think what we've witnessed is these partnerships seem to start out at the dealer level...Motion selling Freewing, Horizon selling FMS, and now BVM selling HSD. And as we've seen over the last few years, the reality is they stay in their partnership lanes through exclusive sales agreements.

Now that being said, we know there have been some foam BVM look-alikes in the past. I just don't see a "BVM" licensed foam jet...that's not their market...realize they just partnered with Tomahawk to offer even larger composite turbine jets. But, a BVM look-alike made by Freewing...I guess that's a possibility.

Again, just my thoughts to further the discussion,

          Sean

Thanks Sean. It’s good to see you on HobbySquawk. Licensing out jets, let alone foam, are definitely not BVM’s current market, but the hope is there, ha-ha. I actually never thought I’d see BVM offer something like HSD jets, but here they are offering them. I also didn’t think we would see a licensed foam Havoc by Horizon, or a licensed foam Avanti by Freewing (and FMS has a smaller 70mm one), but those exist too. It seems tides are changing, and odd possibilities are becoming more realistic.

It would likely be much cheaper for Freewing and Motion RC, or any company, to design their own sport jet and not have to pay licensing fees. It makes sense to maximize profit. The downside is it wouldn’t be a Bandit or Renegade, etc., and it would have to be different enough to not infringe.

If Freewing and Motion design their own sport jet, they should make it a slick looking airframe. There is no doubt it’s easily done, but will it be done is the question. Basically, make it look completely opposite of the Stinger 90 . That plane flies great, but looks hideous and has a face for radio.

Also, if you want a BVM bandit just get the Taft Cobra.

Ahhhh, the old Taft Cobra. It’s not worth the money to me. I wish it was, but even after replacing components it still isn’t worth it.

The EA Rogue is nice and I’d be down for one of those two. Horizon may have the lock down on that relationship, but we’ll see.

Bandit or Kingcat would be awesome if BVM sport jets were made as 80mm foam EDFs.
The old Viper would be awesome too
