  • Some thought it would not happen...

While I have been content to have plenty of turbine time in my logbook, I have been happy fly prop scale planes...That changed on Sunday when I was gifted an Entry level jet - Force RC Blue Angels F-18. It is the PNP with upgrade motor and ESC - even gave me a battery.
So my question is what reciever programs anyone use with AS3X - I have a 636 ready I think would do the job, but wanted to get something of a SAFE mode.
I have time, since I want to clear coat before I get my hands on it...Never flown NIB and have some good help at the field for upgrade training.

First brief flight was a disaster. Wing fasteners were secure - but the molded and glued at the factory plate was not. Rolled inverted and went for a dirt nap right after rotation. Some Gorilla Glue and primer/paint and it was ready again. Next flight went well and my first EDF flight with a model is in the book. Got 2 more on it and no more glue necessary.
No gyro, no SAFE, no AS3X, Just low / high rates and a little expo. For a 64mm - pure fun with a 4S 2200 and get 5 minutes with mid range throttles in flight.

A good rain last night made for a cool morning. A few circuits in the pattern early were fun, but heat and humidity (+ allergies) had me heading home by 8 AM. Click image for larger version

A little experiment - that worked a ton.

So each add-on wing tip was 3/4 inch x 1/2 inch balsa to start. Those silly foam missiles were flimsy and easily snagged on, well anything. After sanding and clear coat, a little monocote and poof - an extra 1.5” of wing. The difference in performance is impressive.
