  • Reverser Setting On EDF Jets

I've seen videos of the Viper 90mm stopping by reversing the motor. Does anyone know if that same feature can be configured on the Avanti V3 70mm or 90mm? How about the YAK-130, can it do that too?

The reverse feature is mostly available on Spektrum "smart" receivers and ESCs. You can, however, find reversing ESCs in other brands like the HobbyKing line and some Castle Creations ESCs, but those work in a slightly different way. The reverse feature on Eflite jets piggybacks the reverse signal back through the throttle channel via a serial protocol (S.Bus). The reverse can be activated without the need to bring the throttle to near zero. The other ESCs I mentioned generally uses a separate signal line to an empty port on the RX and requires the throttle to be brought to zero before activating reverse.
So the short answer is no, you must have a special ESC to do reverse. In the case of your Avanti V3, the easiest way to do it is to buy a Spektrum smart ESC and smart RX to install in your plane. The cheapest way is one of the mentioned options.
