Wow, now using F-16 for drones. Looks like block 30's. I remember watching the F-4's take off from Tyndall and thinking how cool that must be to fly them from a trailer. There will be a tear in my eye the day I see an F-15 with drone orange wing tips.

Dust off the moth balls and filler up. I'll take one. Think I can get it first day air.😁

Next thing you know they'll have F-22's in the mix. Although personally I think they should skip the 22's and go right to the 35's. :dodgy:

Well I kinda agree on the 35. The nickname for the Raptor was the "Ramptor" as it spent more time on the ramp until we could figure out what was wrong with it.

I remember going to Chaparral missile school in the Army, back in the early 70s, they showed us a lot of films of the missiles downing radio controlled B-17s. That was heartbreaking.

As heartbreaking as it may seem, I think it's even more so seeing the "boneyard" in the Nevada desert. Hundreds and hundreds of planes just sitting there in silence. At least with these, they serve a purpose in training new pilots to do their jobs the best they can. Maybe even help some them survive at a crucial time.

Nevada desert? The only real boneyard I know of is outside Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ. Spent 6 months there in 89-90 while training on the EC-130H Compass Call. Still drive down there once in a while to visit the Pima Air Museum.
