    Hi Andy!
Welcome to the Squawk first of all. what you have is a case of buying a Ferrari when you haven't got your drivers license yet. You would be wise to put it on the shelf, join a club and start with a trainer. Most people getting into the hobby think that its like flying a kite, thats why they R/C hobby industry is rich.
Now, as for your connections, standard practice on a receiver is that there will be a plug dedicated for binding, channel one will be for your ESC (the thing that connects to your battery and it has a lead coming off it for your receiver) Channel 2=Ailerons, Channel 3 =elevator, Channel 4=rudder (AER as in aero) Channel 4 landing gear, channel 5 flaps (usually named AUX 1 on the receiver) other channels are for gyros etc.
I would strongly advise you to get at least an 8 channel radio and invest in a RC flight Simulator like Real Flight (Motion RC sells it and I believe Horizon Hobbies as well) A sim allows you to crash and replace an airplane with a click of a button, a lot cheaper!

      Hi Andy and Welcome -

Agree completely - start with a high wing trainer aircraft. I would recommend something in the 1000-1200 mm wingspan size and a plug and play version (sans transmitter) - also if you don't have one yet a separate transmitter like a Spektrum NX-10 will serve you well down the road.

With respect to the FreeWing 64 F-16 -- I assume it is the Verizon 2 (V2) -- please watch the VIDEO links under that aircraft on the MOTION RC site. There is one covering assembly. Also if you search utube for that model, or any aircraft, you will find many videos covering assembly, radio hookup, flying etc.

On rcgroups.com there is a subscriber - flightengr. Suggest you check his prolific entries - especially if you go the Spektrum route.

Andy - appears that the assembly video on motion rc under the V2 F-16 is actually the one for the initial version of the plane which had an elevon arrangement for controlling an elevator and aileron with one servo versus separate servos - please watch this link - also from MOTION RC for the V2

Would you try to fly a real F-16 before you had trained on a Cessna 172?

Just because it's a model doesn't mean it's easy to fly.

Join a club, get some instruction.

Hi Andy the Newbie. We all started the same, as newbie's to the great Hobby of RC Aircraft. The guys have great advice here. So do not hold back on any thing you have a question about. Grossman 56 is a great Pilot I have never met him but I think he knows a friend of mine from Cody Jeff Deines. I met Jeff in Billings years ago. Cody Wyo. has a great bunch. I like what they call RED NECK NIGHT FLYING. No lights on the plane or chopper One pilot and two RED NECKS with Spot lights You really need a lot of trust in the two running the spot lights LOL!!! good luck and have fun Sir
