  • E-Flite 40mm Twin SR-71 Blackbird

So I bought this little monster over the weekend. I’m a massive Habu fan so anybody who makes one is going to get my money.

(Freewing please pick up the white courtesy phone for a twin Uber-scale 70 or 80mm…Ahem)…

The mold is quite nice. Pretty scale. Love the scale wheel option and the finger molds for easy hand launch. I will definitely be making her a hand tosser. My club is not made for small EDFs with tiny wheels. AS3X and SAFE tech. Has something called Hand Launch Assist Mode which sounds good to me.

Anything that helps the Habu fly stable is a friend of mine. I went through a ton of LX 64mm Blackbirds. I know a thing or two about how this airframe can bite lol.

Going to bind her up and see what kind of trouble I can get into at the club field when the weather cooperates. Anyone here have one and care to offer any insight?

Maiden went off without a hitch. SAFE and AS3X is definitely a nice assistance for something like the Blackbird. Hand toss was a little sketchy as I must have given it a bit too much AoA but recovered quickly with SAFE and lowering the nose. Once she was on step I switched it off SAFE and flew great. A little wing rock but that's the nature of the beast. Fun to have the Habu back in my collection and in the skies!
