Ares 3D Yellow Ultra Performance 8S 90mm EDF Jet from Freewing - PNP - FJ32322PG

Version Note: This is the 8S version which comes with a 90mm 12-Blade EDF 8S Power System with a 4075-1350Kv inrunner brushless motor and a thrust reversing 120A ESC.

The Freewing Ares 90mm EDF Jet is a breakthrough in EDF jet design, built for pilots who want to push beyond speed or scale into the world of 3D and post-stall aerobatics. Developed in partnership between champion aerobatic pilot Sebastiano Silvestri and Freewing Model, the Ares is purpose-built for insane aerobatics including hovering, torque rolls, cobras, flat spins and pinwheels.

At the heart of its extreme capability is Freewing’s second-generation dual-axis thrust vectoring system. Using a redesigned nozzle structure, thrust loss has been reduced from 35% in the first generation to less than 6% - meaning far more usable power is available for hovering and post-stall maneuvers. Combined with twin onboard gyros and an adjustable CG weight system, the Ares gives pilots the precision, stability, and authority to perform maneuvers rarely seen in jets.

Practical innovations like quick-release wings with auto-connect wiring, a bright 7-light LED system, and durable CNC machined landing gear struts make the Ares both easy to transport and a joy to fly. Backed by a powerful 12-blade 8S EDF power system, and an advanced dual gyro setup, this jet delivers brute force and fine control in equal measure — opening the door to a new level of EDF aerobatics.
    Unmatched 3D Maneuverability

The dual-axis thrust vectoring system gives pilots incredible control in pitch and yaw, allowing precise hovering, torque rolls, and complex aerobatic maneuvers that are impossible with a conventional EDF jet.
    Unleash Extreme 3D Action

The Ares is built for hovering, torque rolls, cobras, pinwheels and so much more! Pilots can perform a plethora of post-stall maneuvers rarely seen in EDF jets.
Precision Control with Dual EG01 Gyros

One gyro fine-tunes the control surfaces to improve overall stability and responsiveness in every flight regime, while the other manages thrust vectoring for precise hovering and advanced aerobatic maneuvers.
    Field-Ready Quick Release Wings

Wings can be removed or installed in seconds, and electronics connect automatically. This makes setup and transport fast and hassle-free.
    Enhanced Flight Awareness with LEDs

Seven integrated LED lights provide orientation cues and enhance visibility during flight. Pilots can maintain control and confidence during complex or rapid maneuvers.
    Superior Aerodynamic Design

Wing fences improve airflow attachment and add side area, boosting stability and control authority during aggressive maneuvering.
    Fine-Tune Your Balance

The center of gravity can be easily adjusted using the included nose weights. Pilots can optimize performance for hovering and other 3d maneuvers or focus more on forward-flight maneuvers.
    High-Power 8S EDF Performance

The 4075-1350KV inrunner motor, 12-blade fan, and 120A ESC with thrust reversing deliver precise, agile thrust. Pilots can execute hovering, torque rolls, and other advanced 3D maneuvers with confidence and control.

Want to order one. I have one question. Does this come with the gyros?
            Thanks...

Yes, two of them. One for flight surfaces and one for the TV. Have you looked at the description on Motion? Have you down loaded the instruction manual, also available at Motion?

Is an EC5 2 to 1 Series Adapter to plug in the batteries needed for the 8S version.

OK, I see that the adapter is needed. Didn't read far enough. Getting in a hurry to place order with batteries...lol

Well, of course you have to figure out how to adapt what you have. If you have a single 8S pack with a EC5 you are good to go unless you want to add an anti-spark. Most need some adapter or better yet solder on what you need. I use T connectors so I'll be cutting and soldering on a series set of T's plus an anti-spark. I have my series and anti-spark made up and ready to install tomorrow. And the same in my F-16.

Can someone tell everyone where you can get a 13 channel receiver they recommend? Or how you set it up on the shop model. The biggest standard receiver I can find is 10 channel. Anything above that is a power save receiver.

Spektrum? Two channels are gyro mode and sensitivity. If you can get a ten channel receiver with virtual channels for those and Y the ailerons you have it.

                              I have a 12ch Orange and Y’s the ailerons.

Thanks for the suggestion. Looks like the 12 channel orange receiver is discontinued now. Biggest one available out there now is 10 channel for spectrum radios. Have an IX20 so transmitter is not the issue just having to find a big enough receiver that will fit in the bird.

As far as I know all the orange are pretty much unobtainium. I have maybe 60-65 of them and buy them here when they come up. I fly a NX20… I refuse to pay what Spek wants for their receivers but have a few of them too. I don’t do telemetry and have very few planes with gyros so the Orange do me well. I thought about a Spek 14ch for this but I’m happy with it as set up.

So far my issues have been the ESC going out on flight five and chasing centering on the TV so it doesn’t pitch up or down with throttle.

It doesn’t flat spin or flip like I want but otherwise flies very well.

I have a NIB Spektrum AR10100T Rx and an iX14 Tx. Is there a way to make this 10Ch Rx work with 8S Ares and OEM gyros?
Don't need thrust reverse for landings... Willing to use an AG61 nose wheel steering gyro if that helps.

Sure don’t plug in the gyros modes or sensitivity and let them default. Then do all the regular book mixing except Y the ailerons.

Thr, ail, Ele, Rud, gear, flap, flap, rev, TV, TV

What are the gyro modes that I would be missing? Guessing there is a 'heading hold' being used in the promo videos which are rich in low altitude hovering....
