  • Old Sebart Mini Avanti just bought

I’ve just bought a 3rd or 4th hand Sebart Mini Avanti. The guy who previously owned it said he’d flown it on 6S. It’s got a 10 bladed fan but I can’t get to the ESC without making a bit of a mess. Just wondering if anyone has flown these on 8S and what sort of ESc would cut it ?

The stock SebArt Mini Avanti came as both 6s and 8s. Both used the same ESC, so looking at the ESC may not tell you much. Are you sure it's 10-blade? The stock ones used 12-blade. If a previous owner has used a different, custom set up, then the only thing left to do is find out what KV the motor is. The 6s will be up in the 1700+kv. The 8s will be much lower, maybe down around 1400kv. However, this is no guarantee that a previous owner didn't use a 8s motor and flew it on 6s using a 6s ESC. Sometimes buying old stuff like this with no documentation is a bad buy.

You say you can't check the ESC without making a mess. Take a look at this. It looks like the ESC and EDF are easily visible by taking the canopy off, so why would it be a "mess" to get to it?

Looks like a JetFan EDF, you need to really see what motor it has for your ESC size. The one I purchased from JET Fan USA I’m running the ZTW130 hi volt ESC in my second a Phoenix Edge, both started as 6s with one now 10s and the second 8s which in my case have lower amp draw than the 6s motor it had. My mini Avanti is turbine but lots of room, I have a used Phoenix Edge 130 if interested. Either way congratulations had to buy mine from Turbine Rc Gator sai they would have preorders at the end of January but still nothing I’ve seen available on the web site, enjoy your awesome find

Ok thanks guys, I’ll have a look and see if I can get to the ESC . The fan should come out so I’ll check the motor and report back. The previous owner flew it on 6s and said it flew fine but the take off run could be a bit long on our grass strip.

Ok I’ve got the motor and ESC out. It’s a Hobbywing Platinum Pro 150A opto ESC with a Schubeller 10 blade fan DS -51-AXI -HDS 2100 kv motor
