    Reverse thrust

Trying to set up reverse thrust using Radiomaster TX16S on an Avanti 80mm EDF with poor results
Can someone using a Radiomaster TX16S provide simple instruction on setting up this feature on an ESC with reverse capability?
I’m totally confused with is so please go slow with any instruction.
    Thanks for your input

Here is how I use my radio master TX 16 MK 3 for reverse on all my jets which have a reversing ESC. There are many ways to do it but this one works for me.
firstly , does your ESC have a 4th yellow wire on it ? If it does that’s a good start.

Take an open channel and assign a switch to it, this will be our REVERSE channel , I like a switch on the right shoulder of the radio that I can reach without removing my right hand from the back rest. Switch G on my setup. With a servo plugged into this channel you will see that when the switch is cycled through the three positions , the servo moves from end to end with a stop in the middle.

We now need to remove the middle stop as REVERSE is either ON or OFF. This is achieved using the SPECIAL FUNCTION option on the radio. When you are looking at the channel monitor , cycle though the switch position and you can note the values of all three (-100,0,+100)
Select a new SPECIAL FUNCTION and choose your switch position in the middle that will OVERIDE your REV channel to the value you noted above +100 , this can be repeated for the switch down position also or you can use the ! Option. With the servo plugged into the REV channel you should see that when you activate your REV switch that it drives fully to the opposite with no central stop. It’s either ON or OFF. Switch up -100, switch middle position +100 , switch down +100

Plug your yellow ESC wire back in to the REV channel after you have seen that the servo moves as expected.

Move the switch and ensure that when it is activated that the motor runs in reverse when the throttle is activated. Add throttle slowly and you should feel the air exit differently through the model. I hope you are with me so far as now the magic really happens.

This is how I have it so please take this as a suggestion and see if it may suit you and your flying style.
This is where the radio excels , On the three position switch I use for reverse , I have the uppermost position as reverse off , the middle as reverse idle and the position nearest to me as full reverse. This is done using the SPECIAL FUNCTION section of the radio.

Create a new special function that when your new REVERSE switch is moved to the middle position it OVERIDEs the THROTLE channel to a value that gives you an appropriate amount of throttle in reverse mode. You can experiment with the value.
Now add a new special function that when that switch is put in the middle position, it PLAYS TRACK : I use reverse idle. Voila , your radio now announces reverse IDLE and applies REVERSE IDLE automatically on switch selection.
Now repeat the process for the switch in its position nearest you for REVERSE FULL , this time alter the CHANNEL OVERIDE of the THROTLE channel to a higher figure to provide even more thrust in reverse. Add another special function to PLAY TRACK , REVERSE FULL or something to that affect.

You should now have a setup that on touch down you flick the switch and the jets motors will move into reverse and apply a pre determined amount of thrust depending on switch position.

Depending on your comfort level with EDGETX you can also use logical switches to ensure that REVERSE cannot be selected with the GEAR in the UP position or with the THROTLE NOT ARMED. I love the flexibility of EDGE.

      Basic overview
A LOGICAL SWITCH that selects the REVERSE ON THE ESC
A SPECIAL FUNCTION that provides a pre determined amount of THROTLE to be applied.
I use switch G as my REV switch.

I hope that gives you a few pointers for where to look. Infinite possibilities of how to setup your AVanti but this method is how full scale operates , REV IDLE on touchdown and the more if required.
      good luck
