Had the 6s 104 70mm until i spun it into the ground on a too slow ,too sharp turn to final. It donated its organs to a yak. Anyone have info on the 4s set up. I remember overseas sellers offered it(6s was high speed version) but video or other info seems scarce. Have seen video of the 70mm yak on 4s and was wondering if the 104 4s would fly reasonably well.Pride and a love for the airframe dictates i get another one so i was hoping a lighter set up would make it more "floaty" and 4s would be more economical as 6s batts for the yak and mig are really hurting the wallet. Not interested in the jet sound or high speed. If the performance was close to my fw f35vt i would be happy. Any one know if the 4s set up worked?

I would not recommend the 4S in the F-104. It has a high enough stall tendency on 6S. I have had two of them(#2 still flying) and I have not had any issues with the plane on the 6S setup, and I think(no personal experience though) it would be very lackadaisical on 4S. We have a silver version that will be available soon, so if you are wanting a new -104, with a new look, I would highly recommend it!!

I've flown the model on 4s lipo with matching 4s fan/motor combo, and the EPS version being phased out now flew fine on it, with expected decrease in vertical authority and top speed compared to the stock 6s PNP's fan/motor combo. While it does become more floaty on 4s 4000 compared to 6s 4000, I don't think overall it's a superior experience. If you already have 6s 4000, I'd say stick with that. If you have 4s 4000 already, perhaps give it a shot. The sweet spot of course would be something like a 6s 2700-3000. You'd be nearly as light as a 4s 4000, but with the power of the 6s.
Here's my landing of the EPS variant with stock recommended 6s 4000 and a very low 1-2mph headwind. The model can be landed very slowly. It doesn't need to be fast as is shown in many videos.
P.S. To be clear, don't try dropping in a 4s battery into a 6s fan/motor combo. That won't work. When we're talking "4s" and "6s" I'm assuming we all know I'm talking about the power *system* as a whole. Corresponding battery, fan, motor, and ESC.

Thanks for the response. That's the information I needed. The advice about the "experience" is especially helpful. Going to stick to 6s system. Will have another 70mm 104. The mig and yak will keep me busy till spring. Please keep offering jets in the 70 and 80mm class. Its a great balance between flight charicteristics ,affordabilty and portability. 90mm is too difficult to store and too expensive for the middle income guy like myself.Still flying P.15, avanti(#2), mig 21, yak 130 70mm(#2), f35, f9f panther, a10 64mm, F8 crusader/ PA ultimate amr /HK skipper, durafly dh vampire, p 51,spit mk24, corsair, flybeam/ BH f86 50mm, deltawing 50mm/ HH su 26 mm,umx pitts, umx sbach, blade nano cp s,blade 450x, inductrix 200, inductrix pro, umx yak 54,umx f27 fpv/ electrifly 4s L39/ flyzone beaver/ volantix asw 28, /dynam B26
