RE: Flyzone Select Scale A6M2 Zero

Bill, thank you for taking the time to explain the options to me in such detail. I'm way too stupid to have ever figured them out for myself, & guess it's only sheer luck that I'd already rejected the first set due to the economic considerations and settled on the alternative of simply not buying the plane.

Perhaps it'll be better if I start another thread saying "I'd like to buy this plane if you have an ARF version, so I can enjoy MY hobby more." Maybe that won't get me any lectures on what it is I'm supposed to be keeping in mind and going about enjoying it.

          Greetings Gang,

Well, according to my local hobby shop, the Flyzone Select Scale Zero is due in the shop on or before Friday December 19th.

Come on MRC!!!! You guy's carry Flyzone and you haven't even posted a photo of the plane yet??

What's up with that???? You gonna force me to shop local??

RE: Flyzone Select Scale A6M2 Zero

I see this thread has died, so I will try and breathe a little life into it. Bought the Flyzone Zero when it came out, and I am in love with it. It is my first electric, as I have a whole stable of glow and gas up to a BUSA 1/4 scale Pup. The Zero flies very well, and is very stable. You will not be sorry if you buy it. Surprised that Motion hasn't gotten it yet. I think the size is perfect. 45" wing span. If anyone else got it, let us know what you think.

RE: Flyzone Select Scale A6M2 Zero

              Greetings Ben,

Welcome to the world, and convenience of electric aircraft!!!  Sorry for the confusion.....

Actually, the thread continues elsewhere as The Zero Has Landed!!

I have a couple of dry-fit photos posted.

I am glad to hear your positive reviews of this Zero as it seems to get lesser attention compared to the FMS Zero.

I agree with everything you said. It is a really nice flyer and a blast at the flying field sitting next to the Select Scale Corsair, also an awesome flyer.
The bomb drop is a total crowd pleaser (I chose to glue and paint a small washer onto the nose of my bomb to give it a bit more authority during free fall).

I'm also confused as to why MRC has determined not to carry the Zero, I've notice that they have stopped offering the Corsair as well.
I have both planes and I as well as many others have provided positives reviews on both aircraft.

I will be interested in hearing your future thoughts on this and other aircraft.

              Clear Skies,

RE: Flyzone Select Scale A6M2 Zero

You guys have convinced me that I really need one of these, so I ordered one this last weekend. Since I am close to running out of memory on my TTX650, I might need to get one of those new TTX850 radios soon too! Always something!

RE: Flyzone Select Scale A6M2 Zero

                  Hi guys,

We are looking at this plane. We did not jump on it immediately because we've found many of the Flyzone planes have have some design queues which are sub-optimal. For example, retracts on the the Flyzone FW-190. We've stopped carrying some of the Flyzone planes which did have issues. We wanted to be sure this new Flyzone Zero was not one of the planes with design flaws and issues before we put it on our web site.

                    Greetings Tom,

Well, I can obviously speak only on the planes I own and not an entire product line but, I own both the Select Scale Corsair and the Zero and while I have considerably more flights on the Corsair, with the Zero only being resently released, I have not experienced any issues related to the retracts on either plane thus far. There are a few guys in our club also flying the Select Scale Corsair and they have not mentioned any issues related to their retracts either.

                    I offer this primarilly FYI.

Thanks as always for all you do and are willing to do.

I'll agree with you that the FZ 190 does have weak struts, but it is a really nice flying plane. I have learned to land better with this one, and come in as slow as possible with full flaps on a grass field. My last two landings were perfect and no issues with the gear. So far, the only thing that has happened was that the plane would want to turn, and the outside gear leg would fold up. However, by cycling the gear, it has always popped back down with no damage. Hope it will continue to work!

hmm. We were about to start our evaluation of the Flyzone Zero but it is already showing as discontinued. This plane was released very recently. Was it a flop or is this is an error?

That would sure be a surprise to me, if it is already discontinued. I bought one from TH, and it looks like a really nice model. Haven't built it yet, but it really does look nice. Overall, I have really liked the  Fly zone models that I've bought.

TXR is indeed discontinued in favor of a new RXR (which is really a PNP). We'll carry it when it arrives sometime in mid to late May.

I'm glad to hear that your getting the Flyzone Zero it will go nicely with my 190 and Corsair. My Flyzone planes are some of my best flyers. I really like the 190 after replacing the landing gear with the Freewing 190 retracts.
