  • E-Flight Timber Flap to Elevator mixing HELP!!

I have the E-flight Timber and fly with a spectrum DX7 radio. When I go to half flaps the plane wants to climb like a home sick angle till it flips over. I have full down trim in and have to hold down stick to get it to near level. Could some take me through how to mix elevator and flaps on the radio? I am old, bold, and slow technologically!!!

There are instructions on setting up the Spectrum transmitter and how much elevation do give for flaps settings. It is on page 3 of the manual.

      Reduce speed.

Flaps will act to drive the nose up beyond the capability to hold the nose down if you are flying too fast. Even FULL elevator stick on some models can't overpower the flaps driving the nose up when going too fast.

On full scale there is a max airspeed for each deflection setting of flaps. This is for 2 reasons: Maintaining control of the aircraft and preventing the aerodynamic forces from ripping the flaps off the aircraft.

FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.

current planes from 1/2 oz to 22 lbs

Agree with fhhuber. If you're using all the down elevator you have just to keep it level, then you are applying way too much power. Flaps (especially full flaps) are to be used when coming in for a landing (where you are supposed to be slowing down) and on occasion, for taking off (1/2 flaps) when you should be removing flaps as soon as you are up and flying well.
Mixing in elevator will not necessarily fix this "ballooning" as it only does automatically what you do manually and as already said, if you're using all the down you have, mixing isn't the answer. You need to alter your flying control and also check that the CG is correct and trim the plane to fly level, hands off, at cruising speeds before flap use.
