I've been flying the horizon hobby sport cub s for a while and I'm ready to move on to another plane, I was all set to buy the Corsair S Bnf, which has the safe technology. When I was calling all the Lhs to see who had what, one of the places mentioned the Fms T28. I watched a few videos on it, and I love the way it looks.. Would I be in over my head with the Fms T28? are the eagle A3 6 axis gyros easy to install?

First things first, Welcome to the forum.
Any time you ask an "opinion" question please be prepared to receive some very good input. There are lot's of very experienced RC pilots here who are ready and willing to assist you. We are more than happy to give our opinions but know that in the end the final decisions on with who, what, where or when you fly are yours alone.
With that being said, I have and have flown the 1400mm T-28 and pretty much like all T-28's regardless of scale (800mm, 1100mm or 1400mm) they are excellent flyers. However, and again this is just my opinion, I would hesitate to recommend the 1400mm T-28 as a second plane. This is a lot of airplane and the videos typically do not do justice as to how big it really is or relate the "pucker factor" involved for attempting the maiden flight.
I would highly recommend you transistion from your high-wing Cub to something geared toward a first low-wing flyer. A very popular model with members here on the forum is the Freewing Pandora which provides 4 methods of construction in either high-wing and low-wing formats or the Flyzone Switch. You can check out both which are available here at MRC.
Then once you've become acquainted with low-wing flight characteristics I would recommend perhaps the Parkzone T-28 which would (in time) provide a much more comfortable transistion to the 1400mm T-28 and most importantly, a very rewarding experience with an awesome airplane.

Very good suggestion there Rktr Man ! What a great and very tough plane . You can not go wrong the Pandora . Start high wing then go low wing when your ready . It's a forgiving plane which will help you on improving your skills . Get good add a lil more travel in the controls and start learning tricks . The Pandora is a winner !!!But Crashing is LandingComment

Yep, I just wanted to put my two cents in as well. The Pandora is the way to go. I too started off in the Cub and found that the Pandora was an adjustment in that you suddenly have four channels instead of three.
Also, the size difference will help you transition to larger airplanes. Rocketeer, Hippie and I all own Pandoras and have been in the same place as you are. Hippie 64 and I both bought great big beautiful warbirds at first and then back tracked to get something a little more realistic to start with.
Brian (Hippie), was the Pandora the first airplane you flew? It was the second for me. I have two of them, one in low wing and the other in high, but you can change configurations with one if you want, its fairly simple. Brian has his in high wing tricycle configuration so he's the man to check that out with, he has some pretty good advice on toughening up the nose gear. We've all gone on to some other planes, Rocketeer (Bill) has sooooo many. Brian has his Texan and his Grand Cruiser (Still waiting for a video by the way) and I have my Mustang and Waco. I'm still transitioning to the Waco and am getting to the point of feeling comfortable flying her. The Mustang sits and waits.
There would have been a disaster if I hadn't got my Pandoras and went straight from Cub to Mustang.

No my first was a Flyzone Mini Switch and it can be a hand full . Decided that a bigger plane would help with some wind and not be as twitchy . Because of the Pandora I've had the 55'' Texan and Cruiser up !!

Hello weedsnager. Welcome. All posts on this topic are great advice. In my airplane experience I went from UMX Carbon Cub to PZ T-28 to FMS 1400 T28 to now flying FMS 1450 Mustang's almost exclusively. For me transitioning was fairly easy, only been flying Airplanes for about 2 1/2 yrs now but everyone's different. I will admit that my 10 yrs ( off and on ) experience flying heli's helped a lot. The " pucker factor " happens no matter how experienced you are or what you fly.
I've never flown a Pandora so I cant advise on that but I hear a lot of great things about them. The PZ T28 is an awesome flier and one of my favorites. It will teach you a lot. But I will say going from a PZ T-28 to a FMS 1400mm T-28 is a very big step due to the size and weight difference. Unless you have a truck or SUV I would stick to the smaller planes ( you can't put a 1400mm plane in the trunk or the back seat of a car ).
In my opinion AS3X or 3 axis gyros are great for learning and getting a feel for flying air planes but as you advance they become totally unnecessary. Well that's my 2 cent's worth.

In my opinion, another great low wing trainer is the Parkzone Archer. It glides in for landings with no power. It comes in a little fast, but it worked out really good for me because it taught me how to flare to slow it down. Also, the fast landings gave me the experience I needed for the war birdsComment

Hi,
Your posting said that you had the new Horizon Hobby Sports Cub S, well if that is the correct plane and has the three sets of pilot control, beginner, intermediate and expert then your are flying a full four channel plane.
Having said that, and am being very familiar with the Sports Cub S you need to work your way through each of the levels before you get your next plane.
If you have indeed mastered the Sports Cub S with the Safe and are now mainly using the expert level then you are ready for a plane like the T-28, I would recommend you install one of the gryo units sold by Motion RC for the plane, it will really help you if you end up flying on windy days.
