  • FMS 1700mm P-51 gyro install

Can anyone help me with wiring on a FMS 1700MM P-51 MUSTANG.I have a hobby eagle Super 2 gyro and a Detrum GAVIN 6C radio and RXC7 reciever.

The radio came with 7 channel receiver but only a 6 channel radio so with gear and gyro hooked up takes both aux channels. I don't know where to hook flaps, any ideas? or do i need a 8 channel Radio now?

      Welcome to the Squawk
The plane with all controls surfaces in play is 6 channel plus the gyro makes 7 so you'll need an 8 channel Tx.
Also per your hook up description you should change to a standard protocol hookup on the Rx whereas gear is on Gear chan and flaps on Aux1 and gyro on Aux2.
This will match the default port designation of these functions in the transmitter(Spektrum and Gavin).

If you want you can hook flaps and gear together. At least you should be able to. Ran into a similair problem in one of my planes. Have an 8 channel TX, but the stabilized receiver I am running did not have enough outputs for both... (apprentice receiver) So, I y-harnessed the flaps and electric retracts together on a 3 position switch. Then tuned the control settings of the switch with a 2 second deploy delay. Position 1 is gear up and no flaps. Position 2 (cycled from 1) will give me take off flaps and no gear. Position 3 gives the full down signal, giving me landing flaps and now the retracts drop the gear. When you cycle back up to position 2 from 3, the landing gear stays down and get take off flaps again. The gear will only go up or down in positions 1 and 3, giving you take off flaps with or without landing gear in position 2 depending on which direction you cycled from.
I did have to play with flap servo horns a little bit and sub trims to get it all to function, but it can and does work. You cannot have servo style retracts for this though, which your P51 doesnt have anyways.. It works great with electronic retracts, now have 2 planes set this way.
