UMX Timber fun flying

This plane is a ton of fun. I had six flights on it today after purchasing it yesterday at the AMA Expo. I’ve been looking forward to flying it since it’s announcement. It takes off and lands at unbelievably slow speeds (I didn’t install the leading edge slats), especially with a little wind and flaps, while still providing some great stability by the AS3X, and maneuverability when on the high throw settings. The flight time is great since it is capable at flying at lower throttle settings very well (and that amazing wing helps), has a large battery for a UMX plane to put a wide variety of battery capacities, and plenty of room to position the battery unlike some UMX planes. It’’s a total winner. Now I need to try the floats :Cool:.

My advice on down elevator and flaps is... don't until you take it high, slow it down. Apply flaps and see how it behaves in a dead-stick glide.
Too many trim for when the flaps are deployed at speed, which will almost always pitch the nose up. But all that proves is that you deployed the flaps with excess speed.FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.

"Rocketing up" is always excess speed at flap deployment.
Let it slow down.
does it eventually establish a steady slightly nose down to 20 deg nose down glide pretty much on a straight line in calm air? If yes, its fine. If it cycles pitching up and down, then slowly dial in down trim until it stops doing that.
Dead stick, hands off steady smooth glide FOR A LONG TIME is where the trim belongs.
Exact trim needed varies with CG. Shift the battery placement and the trim will not be right any more.FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.

SAFE or other stabilization would void the glide test. It needs to be turned off. (full aerobatic mode)
It actively moves the elevator to prevent the "porpoising" which indicates stall, recover, stall, recover of needing a bit of down trim.
No 2 aircraft are exactly the same.
Each needs to be trimmed for its own minor warps, CG and other deviations from perfection.
Making those adjustments will help the stabilization system operate properly too.FF gliders and rubber power since 1966, CL 1970-1990, RC since 1975.
