  • Not Foam ;)

While the weather is terrible I've been 3D printing a 1700mm Supermarine Spitfire MkIX.

Lot more to go but having fun.

This is definitely something different keep posting your progress. It will be interesting to see how it compares in weight and performance compared to foam.

I have got to get a 3D printer this year. Has anyone ever 3D printed an EDF or designed one?

Hey, Andre! Looking really good.
What printer are you using? And, what slicer? I broke down and bought Simplify3D. Glad I did though. My prints have really improved. I hope to start on one of 3dLabs planes soon.

Nice progress! I've printed the smaller spitfire and BF-109F but haven't fitted them with electronics yet. I'll be printing the Mig-15 soon so it's ready for Jet Jam in June.

In case people haven't seen the flight video, here it is:

Pretty cool, huh Doc? And, one can be printed out for about $30. All you have to do is buy the electronics to go with it. Well, and purchase the 3d model files.

Very cool. The possibility to add so many scale details is endless. This must be the future, download your RC plane, order your graphics, print it, fly it. Awesome.
I'd really like to get a 3d printer this year.
